Meet SUARE

We recently connected with SUARE and have shared our conversation below.

SUARE, so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?
It’s all about consistency. Finding the motivation, every day, to continue following and completing each single goal. A lot of organization, not only physically, but emotionally. Back&Forward Records has a lot to do, since we create a lot of content, from music releases, events, podcasts, dj sessions, radio, merch, and more… we’ve builded a platform that creates periodically.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Back&Forward Records is a record label platform that started back in 2018 with just 3 artists. We literally started from the bottom, going day by day, taking good and bad decisions and learning from each of them. I think the goal has been very clear since day one, and it’s all about creating and growing. We knew we needed to start working on different projects to scale up and show a high-quality concept being different than others, creating more than music, but a platform with several roots of content. That’s why we created our 3 main contents: Podcasts, Sessions, and Radio. They’ve set our record label on the eyes of everyone, inside and outside this music industry. The formula was to start our own source of content, leading us where we are today. The only obstacle is the amount of work that it takes, and we are very happy and proud of that! Every single project you see from Back&Forward Records is genuinely made with a purpose and a message, and that is what this record label is about.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Auto-education, learning from each mistake and each good decision, and as mentioned before: consistency. Based on my experience, I need to say that I created my own path by auto-educating myself, understanding the consequences of my decisions, and being consistent and confident with what I am doing. No masterclass or magic trick will give you the understanding of what’s next if you don’t realize what you want, if you don’t understand where you’re at. Every artist has a different vision, and only you understands it a 100%. Trust on yours!

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Definitely! We started 2024 the right way, identifying our next goals and going for them. There’s a lot to do, and we will be happy to continue expanding our team, or collaborating with those who are working hard, respecting everyone, and creating new things with love. We are now accepting demos from Producers and mixes from DJs. We have different contracts for different scenarios so we don’t limit our goals and visions. We are also developing more events, and more content, such as podcasts, sessions, and radio. Our main email is always open for work: backforwardrec@gmail.com or contact@backforwardrecords.com
