Meet Subekchya K C

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Subekchya K C. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Subekchya, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

When I look back at my journey, I realize my resilience didn’t come from being unshakable — it came from learning how to bend without breaking. Every challenge, every change, every loss has quietly shaped the woman I am today.
It began with my roots — my parents’ love, their trust, and the home they built for me. I grew up surrounded by freedom, warmth, and faith in possibilities. That foundation gave me the strength to question, to dream, and to stand tall in my truth.
Then life added its lessons. Motherhood turned my world around — everything changed overnight. But it also opened a new path, one that led me into the world of Pranic Healing, sound therapy, and energy work. I began to understand that life isn’t happening to me, it’s happening for me. I stopped asking “Why me?” and started asking “What is this teaching me?”
And then came the biggest leap — leaving Nepal. With my husband, two kids, and eight suitcases, I walked into a new world — new culture, new language, new beginnings. It wasn’t easy. But deep down, I carried faith — faith in the universe, in my own strength, and in the truth that everything happens for a reason.
That faith brought me home to myself. To the food I grew up with, the warmth of my mother’s recipes, and the comfort of family. Out of that longing and love, Momo Maya was born — food wrapped in love, carrying the soul of home across oceans.
My resilience comes from that — from being rooted in faith, grounded in love, and open to whatever life has to teach me next.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

My journey as an entrepreneur is deeply personal — it’s rooted in love, resilience, and the belief that even the simplest things, like food, can tell powerful stories.
When I left Nepal with my husband and two kids — just eight suitcases, a heart full of dreams, and faith in the universe — I didn’t know what awaited me in a new country. Austin was unfamiliar at first: new faces, new language, new rhythms. But in all that change, I found comfort in one thing — food. The flavors of my mother’s kitchen, the aroma of home-cooked meals, and the warmth that food brings to people became my anchor.
That’s how Momo Maya was born — not just as a food truck, but as a piece of my soul. It’s my way of sharing the heart of Nepal with Austin — through the love, spices, and warmth I grew up with. Each momo we serve carries a story — of family dinners back home, of community, and of the love that wraps around every meal. Our tagline says it best: “Food at Momo Maya isn’t just a meal; it’s an experience of love and care — the comfort of home, the warmth of family, and the soul of Nepal in every bite.”
Alongside Momo Maya, I also run Nuga by Moksh, a women-led sustainable platform that empowers women entrepreneurs and promotes ethical, heart-centered products. “Nuga” means “Heart,” and it represents exactly that — work led by passion, purpose, and people.
And while entrepreneurship is my outer journey, energy and sound healing have been my inner one. As a certified healer, I’ve learned to bring mindfulness and gratitude into everything I do — from business decisions to the energy I put into my food.
Today, my focus is on growing Momo Maya into a cultural bridge — a place where people come not just to eat, but to connect, to feel, and to remember that love is universal, no matter where you come from.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

When I look back at my journey, the three things that have truly shaped me are resilience, faith, and empathy.
Resilience came from life itself. Moving across the world with my family, starting over from nothing, and finding my place again—it wasn’t easy. But every challenge became a teacher. I’ve learned that resilience isn’t about being tough all the time; it’s about staying open even when things get hard. It’s about falling, learning, and rising with more grace each time. My advice to anyone just starting out? Don’t be afraid of challenges. They’re not roadblocks; they’re the training ground for your growth.
Faith has been my constant companion. I’ve always believed that everything happens for a reason—even when that reason isn’t clear yet. When I left Nepal, I didn’t have a roadmap, just trust in the universe and in my own intentions. Faith gives you the courage to take that next step even when you can’t see the full path. To build it, learn to pause and listen—whether through meditation, journaling, or silence. The answers come when your mind quiets and your heart speaks.
And then there’s empathy—something I consider the soul of everything I do. Whether in business, healing, or just everyday life, empathy helps me connect with people at a deeper level. It reminds me that every person carries their own story. When you lead with empathy, you don’t just build success—you build relationships that last.
For me, these three qualities—resilience, faith, and empathy—aren’t just skills; they’re ways of living. They’ve carried me through every phase of my journey and continue to guide me as I grow both as a woman and as an entrepreneur.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

Absolutely. I’ve always believed that collaboration is the root of meaningful growth. Every impactful project I’ve been part of — whether in media, social enterprise, or food — has flourished because of shared purpose and collective passion.
Right now, I’m focused on expanding Momo Maya, my heart-driven food brand that shares the warmth of Nepal through authentic flavors and soulful experiences. I’m seeking investors and strategic partners who see beyond profit — those who value culture, sustainability, and community connection as much as innovation. Momo Maya is more than a business; it’s a bridge between tradition and global taste, between comfort and consciousness.
I’m also open to collaborating with women-led ventures, sustainable brands, wellness practitioners, and creatives who want to make a lasting, positive impact.
If you’re someone who believes in purposeful entrepreneurship and wants to be part of a brand that feeds both the body and the soul, I’d love to connect. Together, we can grow something truly beautiful — rooted in values, fueled by vision.
