Meet Suchi

We were lucky to catch up with Suchi recently and have shared our conversation below.

Suchi, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?

I’ve always had a creative eye, even as a child, and I tend to see things from a unique perspective. However, like everyone, I experience creative slumps—sometimes brief, sometimes lasting days—when my inspiration wanes. During these periods, I disconnect and take a break, perhaps sketching something unrelated or, rarely, stepping away from drawing altogether. I return to my work when I’m re-energized and ready to pursue my passion again. As the saying goes, “When you’re tired, learn to rest, not to quit.”

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Based in Dubai but working internationally, I’m a freelance illustrator and digital designer serving both local and global clients. I specialize in digital illustration, crafting a distinctive style of visual storytelling. My approach is personal, free-flowing, and authentic. While I strive for technical excellence, it’s the whimsical nature of my work that truly resonates with my audience.

I create illustrations for global universities and organizations, using them in e-learning resources, print materials, and instructional design. In 2025, I plan to expand my reach by creating more accessible artwork for art prints and merchandise, allowing me to connect with a broader audience worldwide.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Three qualities that have significantly shaped my journey are curiosity, a constant drive to learn and grow, and adaptability, especially crucial now with the rise of AI art. I fully embrace change while remaining committed to maintaining my unique style and authentic voice.

My advice to aspiring illustrators is this: prioritize learning and growth, embrace adaptation and change, and when self-doubt creeps in, take a step back to reassess your work, but never abandon what you initially set out to achieve. That creative spark was ignited within you for a reason.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I’m always eager to connect with fellow creatives both locally and globally. My art, which is digital yet retains a hand-drawn feel (a tricky thing to explain!), is versatile and adaptable to various mediums. I’ve created designs for everything from cookies and embroidery to art prints and merchandise.

Like-minded creatives can reach out via email or my social media channels. I dream of seeing my artwork on a wide range of merchandise, including mugs, t-shirts, tote bags, and much more. Importantly, I also aspire to expand further into creating educational and instructional art for schools, colleges, young readers, and senior audiences.
