Meet Sue Ellen Bonilla

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sue Ellen Bonilla. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Sue ellen , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

I didn’t necessarily ‘find’ my purpose overnight — I lived my way into it. I’ve spent over 15 years working in healthcare, in everything from front-line roles to leadership and business strategy. Along the way, I saw the cracks in the system — the frustration patients feel, the burnout providers experience, and the lack of real solutions that help people feel their best.

But it was also personal. I’ve faced my own health challenges, and I know what it feels like to be searching for answers and not finding them. That, combined with my experience in the industry, made it clear to me that my purpose is to be a resource for others — to help people cut through the noise, access the right support, and live healthier, more empowered lives.

Through my agency, I’ve been able to support healthcare providers behind the scenes, so they can focus on serving their patients. But I know this is just the beginning — my mission is to create more ways to help people live better, longer lives, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

My professional journey has always been rooted in healthcare, but over the years, I realized my true focus is helping people behind the scenes. I’m the founder of StrategiX Med Solutions, a healthcare consulting agency that helps providers simplify the business side of medicine so they can focus on what really matters — delivering exceptional care to their patients.

What makes our work special is that we don’t just offer cookie-cutter solutions. We help wellness providers, independent medical practices, and mental health professionals build strong, sustainable businesses with efficiency, integrity, and better outcomes for their patients. With over 15 years of experience in both healthcare operations and the wellness space, I’ve seen firsthand how overwhelming the system can feel — and I love being able to help providers cut through the noise so they can thrive.

What excites me most is the ripple effect. When we help a provider succeed, it impacts their patients, their families, and their entire community. It’s not just business — it’s about helping more people access real solutions that improve their lives.

I’m also working on new ways to serve those who are tired of feeling dismissed or stuck in a healthcare system that doesn’t always prioritize true wellness. There’s a lot more to come, and I’m passionate about being part of that change.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, the three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are resilience, resourcefulness, and relationship-building.

First, resilience — the ability to keep going when things get hard, and they will get hard. There’s been plenty of moments where I questioned everything, but staying focused on the bigger picture — the mission behind the work — has kept me grounded.

Second, resourcefulness. I didn’t have all the answers in the beginning, but I made it a point to figure things out. I believe if you’re committed to learning, asking questions, and finding solutions, you’ll always stay one step ahead.

And third, building real relationships. Whether it’s clients, mentors, or other business owners, your connections matter. You can’t build a business or a legacy in isolation.

My advice to anyone early in their journey: lean into the hard parts. Don’t expect perfection. Stay curious, stay resilient, and surround yourself with people who align with your values. And most importantly, don’t lose sight of your ‘why’ — that’s what keeps you moving forward.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Absolutely — I’m always open to collaborating with like-minded individuals who share my passion for helping people live healthier, more empowered lives. Through my agency, I work primarily with therapists, wellness providers, and functional medicine practices who are focused on making a real difference in their communities.

I love connecting with providers and business owners who care about their clients and patients, who want to grow their practice the right way, and who understand that building a sustainable, successful business also means creating more access to care.

If you’re a therapist, wellness provider, or someone in the functional medicine space looking for support with operations, credentialing, or business growth — or if you simply want to connect and share ideas — I’d love to hear from you.
