Summer, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
A part of me always knew deep down that my purpose would come from helping others, but I never knew in what way. Growing up, I struggled with self-confidence and never felt comfortable in my own skin. This lack of self-assurance made me feel like I wasn’t good enough to help other people. However, everything changed when I embarked on my personal health and fitness journey. In an effort to transform my life, I committed to changing my health and body on my own. Through this process, I realized that if I could achieve such a transformation, I could also help others do the same.
As I started to see results, I became passionate about sharing my journey with others. I wanted to help those who had similar experiences and struggles with health and fitness. When I began sharing my progress on social media, the feedback was incredible. People thanked me, told me I inspired them, and shared how my story had impacted their lives. It was at that moment I knew that becoming a personal trainer was what I was meant to do. Helping others achieve their health and fitness goals has become my purpose, and I’m grateful every day for the opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives!
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Growing up, I didn’t understand the value or importance of health and fitness, and I always lacked confidence because of it. It wasn’t until I embarked on my own health and fitness journey, losing 40 pounds and maintaining that weight loss for the past four years, that I became passionate about learning all things related to health, wellness, and fitness! This journey has truly inspired me to help others transform their lives, as I’ve seen firsthand the difference feeling good about your body can make.
Recently, I launched my own online one-on-one personal training program called Summer Bod Club! What makes Summer Bod Club special is that it’s built on my personal experience. I wasn’t someone who previously worked out or cared about my body, nor did I grow up on a healthy diet or in a environment that fostered a healthy lifestyle. I had to learn all of it on my own in adulthood. This gives me a unique perspective and empathy for my clients.
Through my 8 to 12-week training programs, I focus on spending a lot of one-on-one time with my clients, evaluating their progress and how they are adapting not just physically but mentally as well. As someone who has struggled with discipline, motivation, and confidence, it’s crucial for me to get to know my clients on a deeper level. I aim to provide personalized support that addresses both the physical and mental aspects of their fitness journey.
One of the most exciting aspects of Summer Bod Club is building a supportive community. I’m thrilled to connect members of the program so we can all benefit from a strong support system. I’m committed to continuing to grow this community and help more people achieve their health and fitness goals.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, I believe the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in my journey are stepping out of my comfort zone, discipline, and persistence.
1. One of the most transformative steps in my journey was learning to step out of my comfort zone and make changes in my daily routine. For instance, I started with just a quarter-mile run around my apartment building. For so long, I told myself that I couldn’t run or wasn’t capable of being a “runner.” But when I decided to step out of my comfort zone and attempt that quarter-mile run, I realized that even though it was challenging, at least I was trying. The key is to start small and gradually push your boundaries.
2. I quickly learned that if I wanted real results, I needed to put my emotions aside and stay focused on the end goal. When I was in school, I always maintained a strict study schedule and achieved high grades through consistent effort and discipline. I knew I had that quality in me and needed to apply the same disciplined approach to my health and fitness journey. You can cultivate discipline by setting clear goals and creating a structured routine. Focus on your long-term objectives and stay committed, even when motivation wanes. Remember, consistency is key to achieving lasting results.
3. I take pride in being someone who very rarely takes no for an answer. When there is something I want, I don’t stop until I get it, despite any challenges I may face along the way. I’m very persistent and willing to figure things out on my own if it means achieving my goals. Persistence involves maintaining determination and not giving up, even in the face of obstacles and setbacks. This requires patience and understanding that progress takes time. Health and fitness truly is a lifestyle change that demands both persistence to keep pushing forward and discipline to maintain consistent habits.
A big part of my training approach is teaching my clients how to maintain both discipline and persistence so they can sustain their health and fitness goals while still enjoying life. I help them set realistic, long-term objectives and create structured routines that fit their lifestyles. By balancing consistent effort with the flexibility to enjoy life’s pleasures, they can achieve lasting results and find joy in their fitness journey!
For those early in their journey, I recommend finding others who are striving toward the same goals or have achieved the goals you want. Having a support system can keep you motivated when things get difficult. Early on in my fitness journey, my husband was there to support and encourage me. He was physically fit and grew up that way, so he went on runs with me and kept me motivated, even when I wanted to quit. This support was crucial in the beginning.
Another reason why I think building a community like Summer Bod Club is so important is because having others there to support you really makes a difference. I’m also a firm believer in removing any negativity from your routine. Especially when it comes to the things we listen to, watch, or people we interact with. Fill your day with positive, uplifting music, podcasts, shows, and friends. Having the right mindset is a huge factor when you’re early on in your journey.
Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
My ideal client is someone genuinely committed to making a positive change in their life. They don’t need to be fitness experts or have a background in health and wellness, but they should have a strong desire to improve their physical and mental well-being. They should be open-minded, willing to step out of their comfort zone, and dedicated to their goals with a disciplined approach. A positive attitude, resilience, and a goal-oriented mindset are crucial, as is the ability to persist through challenges. Additionally, they should value being part of a supportive community, engaging with others, and sharing their experiences. Open and honest communication is essential for effective progress.
