Sundeep, so great to have you with us today. There are so many topics we want to ask you about, but perhaps the one we can start with is burnout. How have you overcome or avoided burnout?

I’ve been making music since 2020, but in 2022 and 2023, I was also working a full-time job. My time was starting to be cut too thin, and I was struggling to balance work, shows, practice, and time with my wife. By 2023 I was burnt out and had to take a step back from music for a bit. I went back to my home country of India to spend time with family and friends, and that gave me a chance to fully step away from music for a few months. When I returned, my mind felt much clearer, and I was able to return to my creativity with a renewed love for music. This entire experience made me realize how important it is to not over-focus and overstress on artistic work. This lesson taught me that life should be a balance of different experiences, both everyday and artistic, because they all fuel creativity.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I am Sun Deep, an India-born artist based in Oklahoma, and I strive to epitomize the fusion of cultures through my captivating music. By day, I am a dedicated geophysicist, but by night, I transform into a musical virtuoso, blending my scientific precision with artistic creativity. My compositions are a reflection of my diverse experiences, blending traditional Indian melodies with contemporary Western elements to create a sound that is uniquely my own. Through my music, I seek to bridge the gap between cultures, transcending boundaries and bringing people together through the universal language of music.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Perseverance, humility, and drive are three essential qualities that can take you to places you’ve never imagined. Drive fuels your motivation to achieve your goals in both creative and business endeavors. Perseverance ensures that you stay committed to your path, even when faced with challenges. Humility, on the other hand, shapes you into a well-rounded individual. Success can often inflate our egos, causing us to change our behavior and attitudes. It is crucial to remember your roots and acknowledge those who have supported you along the way.

Among these qualities, I encourage you to let humility be your guiding light. At the end of the day, we are all human beings striving to find our place in the world. Kindness and humility towards one another are the keys to making meaningful progress in our society.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?

I have a deep passion for making music and experimenting with sound, but my biggest challenge lies in marketing my art. I often feel self-conscious about promoting my work, which makes it difficult to reach a wider audience. To overcome this, I have decided to focus on creating and sharing content that I genuinely enjoy, rather than trying to follow trends. By staying true to myself and my artistic vision, I hope to connect with others who appreciate my unique style and build a more authentic following.
