We were lucky to catch up with SunDej recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi SunDej, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
I believe that overcoming impostor syndrome is a lifelong journey, because even when you overcome imposter syndrome in one area of your life, it can still show up in another area of your life. I’d say that step one for me was getting clear and specific about what I wanted to achieve. Second was recognizing the limiting beliefs that were replaying in my subconscious mind, keeping me away from that specific outcome. third was taking the action that aligned with that clear and specific outcome even when it felt scary or uncomfortable and doing so on a regular basis and I believe that the more you repeat this process for each goal you have the less you feel like an imposter, in the more it feels like that end goal is aligned with your true self.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
When I first started out on my entrepreneur journey, I had just given birth to my first son, and I was learning about how to write books and sell them on Amazon. I new I wanted to stay at home with him but also wanted to be able to monetize my skills at the same time. So I wrote a few books, one under my name, and then a few under pin names. after that I started branching out into learning about how to create journals, so I have so many journals on Amazon. My books are also on Amazon as well, and that is where I took my passion of writing, and started to translate that into something that could be monetized, So the first sale that I ever made online was from one of my books. Fast forward to today that was in 2017 when I wrote and published that book but today I am exploring my passion of singing and songwriting as an independent artist and in 2021 I released my first single, and now, since then I have written songs for other artists who are already established and I’m also continuing to write my own creative works. What I’m most excited about now is my manifesting music master class. It is basically a sum of all the things that I’ve learned throughout my journey as an entrepreneur since the beginning however I wanted to turn it into something that artists can utilize to monetize their creative works. The focus of the masterclass is building an audience because it doesn’t matter how amazing your product is, If no one knows about it it won’t sell, so I’m excited to share with independent artists and musicians how they can organically attract their ideal audience, create an artist identity, and attract opportunities to help make the music dreams a reality.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I would say the first most important quality that anyone can have is investing in themselves even if you’re not an entrepreneur whatever it is that you are mastering require some type of knowledge to help you to be the best that you can be at whatever it is that you are personally so number one for sure is knowing when to invest in yourself, and to make it a habit the second. The second skill is to not be afraid to fail. So much of my success has come from making mistakes so if you take away the mistakes that I made you take away the success whether it comes from successfully publishing over 100 books and journals or successfully writing and releasing music it can apply to anything. The last skill is self awareness, because when you are putting yourself out there and making mistakes. He can chew away at your confidence and your self-esteem and your overall self view. So it’s important to pour into yourself, and also to be aware of the thoughts and beliefs that you’ve taken on as your own from your environment from your childhood and from the conditioning of the people around you and recognizing that it’s not yours, and that you can choose to change your views, so that they can align with the path that you’re on.
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
It’s hard to say just one person who has helped me to overcome challenges and build skills. I will say along with what I mentioned before about investing in yourself having a mentor really helped me to reprogram my mind for success. When I say mentor, it doesn’t necessarily have to be somebody you sit down and have calls with or meetings with a mentor can be an author of a self-help book. Whether it is think and grow rich or you are a bad ass and making money or answer your favorite your favorite self help book. He can be the host of a podcast it can be anyone who is teaching you what you need to know to help you on your path to help you sharpen your skills with that being said, I have invested in products and services from people that I view as mentors from books to courses to one on one consultations and group coaching programs. I believe that to be successful. It’s important to have someone who has already achieved success to show you their steps so that you can also be successful.
