Meet Sunisa Ingram

We were lucky to catch up with Sunisa Ingram recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Sunisa with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

My work ethic is deeply rooted in my upbringing and life journey. Growing up in Bangkok, Thailand, I was taught the value of hard work and perseverance from a young age. My parents instilled in me the importance of being responsible, staying focused, and never taking opportunities for granted.

That foundation stayed with me as I made the life-changing decision to immigrate to the United States in 2019. Adjusting to a new culture, learning English, and starting over in a completely different environment required determination and resilience. I knew that if I wanted to succeed, I had to give everything my all—whether it was studying, working, or building a business from the ground up.

My work ethic was further shaped by the challenges I faced on the path to entrepreneurship. From language barriers to navigating the complexities of opening two businesses, I had to stay consistent, patient, and motivated every day.

Ultimately, my drive comes from a deep desire to create something meaningful—not just for myself, but for my clients, employees, and community. I believe in leading with integrity, showing up with intention, and continuously striving to be the best version of myself.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m a Licensed Massage Therapist and the founder of Deluxe Thai Massage in Roanoke, Texas and Deluxe Thai Massage & Wellness in Colleyville, Texas.

Massage therapy, especially Thai Massage, is not just a profession for me—it’s a way to share my culture and help others reconnect with their bodies and well-being. Thai Massage is unique in its approach. It combines acupressure, assisted stretching, and rhythmic compression to restore energy flow, relieve tension, and promote balance. I love that every session is both deeply healing and deeply personal, tailored to what each client needs most.

What’s most exciting for me is seeing how our services truly impact people’s lives—whether it’s helping someone recover from chronic pain, relieve stress, or simply carve out time for self-care. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that my team and I are making a difference, one massage at a time.

My brand stands for authenticity, care, and excellence. At both locations, we strive to create a warm and welcoming environment where clients feel truly cared for. I take pride in offering not just high-quality services, but also in building a supportive team culture where therapists are empowered and respected.

Recently, we’ve been expanding our offerings and reach. The opening of our second location in Colleyville in 2024 was a major milestone and a dream come true. This new space, Deluxe Thai Massage & Wellness, allows us to offer a broader range of wellness services and serve more clients across the DFW metroplex. We’ve also been introducing new treatment options and wellness packages tailored to modern lifestyles.

Looking ahead, I’m focused on continued growth—not just in terms of business, but in how we serve our clients and support our team. I want people to know that when they come to Deluxe Thai Massage, they’re not just booking a service—they’re joining a community rooted in care, tradition, and genuine connection.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, the three most impactful qualities in my journey have been perseverance, adaptability, and a commitment to learning.

Perseverance
Starting over in a new country, learning a new language, and building two businesses from the ground up—all while facing cultural and personal challenges—taught me the power of not giving up. There were moments when things felt overwhelming, but I kept reminding myself why I started.
Advice: No matter what your goal is, setbacks will happen. The key is to keep moving forward. Remind yourself often of your “why,” stay focused on your long-term vision, and celebrate the small wins along the way. Perseverance is built one day at a time.

Adaptability
Life in the U.S. was very different from what I was used to in Thailand. I had to adapt quickly—whether it was in learning English, understanding local business laws, or adjusting to American customer expectations. That flexibility helped me thrive in unfamiliar situations.
Advice: Stay open-minded and be willing to step outside of your comfort zone. The world is constantly changing, especially in business. If you’re adaptable, you can turn challenges into opportunities. Listen, observe, and be willing to adjust your approach when needed.

Commitment to Learning
From massage therapy techniques to business management, marketing, and customer service, I’ve always approached my work as a student. I took every opportunity to learn—from formal classes to hands-on experience—and that mindset has helped me grow both professionally and personally.
Advice: Never stop learning. Whether it’s improving your skills, understanding your industry, or learning from others, growth comes from curiosity and humility. Seek mentors, take classes, ask questions, and invest in your education—formal or informal.

These three qualities helped shape my journey, and I believe they are foundational for anyone starting out. The path may not always be easy, but if you stay persistent, flexible, and curious, you’ll build a future you can be proud of.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

Without a doubt, the person who has been most helpful in my journey is my husband, Ryan Ingram. His support has been unwavering from the very beginning. As a military veteran with nearly a decade of service in challenging environments like Afghanistan, Iraq, and Jordan, Ryan deeply understands discipline, resilience, and the importance of taking risks. He has not only believed in my dreams but has also actively helped me bring them to life—offering guidance, helping with construction and operations, and standing by me through every high and low.

Ryan’s experience and mindset helped me develop the confidence I needed to face the unknown. He encouraged me to trust myself, take bold steps, and never let fear dictate my future. His perspective, especially when things got tough, reminded me that challenges are just part of the process—and that perseverance always pays off.

I’m also incredibly grateful to our families, who have been essential in supporting the business—physically, emotionally, and logistically. From helping build out the spaces to being there when I needed extra hands, their involvement made all the difference.

And of course, I’ve learned so much from my team, mentors, and even my clients. Every experience has taught me something—whether it’s about running a business, improving a massage technique, or being a better leader.

Success is never a solo journey, and I’m thankful every day for the people who have walked this path with me.
