We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Susana Brijandez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Susana below.

Susana, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?

Everyday is an opportunity for me to try something different and new. Curiosity and to do something new everyday is a huge motivation for me. Sometimes people think ´creative´ it’s equal to ´artistic´, and not necessary. I need to be creative in every field everyday: at my work, when I write a poem, if I need to figure it out at the gym with the routine of the day or even when I go out with my dog and want to play or give him a different experience than yesterday. I think the way I keep creativity alive in my life is just to feel it or to be real about my intention and the reason I want to do that thing. It’s my kind of boost to find a new way to do it and the result is being creative. Obviously I find inspiration in a lot of things, as music, podcasts, art, books, photography, reading, even just scrolling on social media, but specially listening people stories but I think it’s easy to find inspiration almost everywhere and everyday. The best advice: be open to receive inspiration and trust in yourself to create anything you want.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am a writer and a booklover. I published my first book 2 years ago, called “You are my 11:11”, I love to write poetic prose, my thoughts about love, my love stories, etctera. I also have two podcasts: “A Deshoras” (something like odd hours) is about life, personal growth, books reviews, and life itself. The other one is “El audioblog del arte” (art audioblog) where I share my opinion, thoughts and reviews about art as dance, theater, museums, exhibitions, artists, etcetera. And in the professional field, I have a marketing and creative studio (my entrepreneurship) Âme Creative Studio, mainly offer social media services as content creator through photography, graphic design, strategy, video and influencer campaigns.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Definitely, CREATIVITY is one of my most important skills, cause it allows me to solve everything, to transform an idea into a reality, product, event or something tangible. About areas of knowledge, I keep studying and learning about marketing and social media, I’m kind of expert in the field and I have the chance to apply all the ideas daily with my projects and personal projects. And the last quality/skill, I think is, how easy is for me to connect with people, to be empathetic and understand what they feel and help them to solve something.

The most valuable advice I could share is to believe in yourself and your ideas. Maybe you feel like you d0n’t have certain skills but you can develope them, maybe you would like to be “better” in certain field, you can study and get prepared, and maybe you have certain quailities and you think is not enough but I promise you can do a lot and great things being yourself. So never stop dreaming!

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

Trust me and allow me to follow my dreams whatever it was. When I started college I choose Sociology as my degree and although it doesn’t guarantee a stable or secure field, they support me to keep studying. When I decided to create my marketing agency, they pushed me to do it and learn in the journey. They have always let me do whatever comes to my mind without limiting or demotivating me. All of these make me feel invincible and powerful, because it keeps me dreaming, making, creating and building more dreams.
