Meet Susi

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Susi. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Susi below.

Susi, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

I developed my confidence by seeking and accepting challenges. By succeeding to master the challenge, solve the issue or get that job, my self esteem grew. I grew. I then applied what I learned to the next step or next challenge. It is s joyful journey.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

My path began in Germany in a society that is well structured and safe. My path was predictable leading to language studies and an administrative career. I eventually branched out living in other countries. However, subconsciously, my soul was yearning for adventure and risk, to be a pioneer and in charge of my true destiny. I found a home for my soul in the mountains of Montana, near Yellowstone National Park. I became a writer, backpacker, and a friend of llamas. I founded Yellowstone Llamas and guide llama hikes and treks in Yellowstone National Park with a team of wonderful llama buddies, some of whom I rescued from abuse and neglect. The llamas and I also do charity events such as visits to senior homes and summer camps for children with cancer. In this the second big chapter of my life, I focus on sustaining a low impact life with a business that brings joy to many people, that takes people into and close to nature and that puts a smile on their faces.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Resilience; belief in myself; curiosity about the world, and the willingness to be flexible, ethical and courageous.
Advice: follow your dreams. Don’t give up or bend your values. Believe in yourself.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

I don’t think there are specific people that have been most helpful to overcome my challenges. But I strongly believe that it is important to listen to advice from others. There is strength in teamwork and great advantages in networking. Alliances with people who share your values are beneficial and rewarding.
