We recently connected with Susi Cabello and have shared our conversation below.
Susi, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?
Navigating professional spaces as the only young Latina in the room has been both challenging and empowering. I’ve learned that the key to success lies in embracing my uniqueness and letting my light shine. Bringing a fresh perspective to the table has often been appreciated, and when it hasn’t, I’ve recognized the importance of knowing when to move on.
It’s crucial to understand that we shouldn’t have to fight for respect or recognition. If our differences aren’t valued where we are, it might not be the right place for us.
A story that resonates with me is about Joshua Bell, a world-renowned violinist who had a concert in Washington and sold it out, with tickets costing hundreds of dollars. Just days later, he decided to play incognito in the same area’s subway. Despite being one of the greatest musicians in the world, most commuters just ignored him while he was playing. This experiment showed how context and environment can significantly affect how our talents are perceived and appreciated.
Like Bell’s subway performance, our unique contributions might not always be recognized in every setting. However, this doesn’t diminish their value. Sometimes, it’s simply about finding the right audience who truly appreciates and celebrates what we bring to the table.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m a producer, entrepreneur, and the creator and host of a spiritual meditations and self-growth podcast called “Decretum Podcast.” Over the past three years, this venture has not only brought me immense knowledge but has also allowed me to live the life of my dreams. Through my podcast, I’ve built a six-figure business and guided countless individuals in finding their own power and light. Manifesting our deepest desires is a primary focus of my work.
One of the most exciting aspects of what I do is the ability to connect with a massive audience. My voice has reached over 14 million people around the world, and it’s been an absolute pleasure to be warmly received by such a diverse community. Winning the Best Female Podcast award at the 2023 Latin Podcast Awards was a significant milestone in my journey, recognizing the impact of my work and the importance of following one’s passion.
Through “Decretum Podcast,” I aim to help people recognize their own potential and manifest the life they dream of. It’s a journey of growth, empowerment, and, most importantly, self-discovery.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back on my journey, four qualities have been especially impactful: authenticity, adaptability, discipline, and congruence.
Authenticity has been the cornerstone of my journey. Being true to myself allowed me to connect deeply with my audience and build a brand that resonates on a personal level. My advice? Stay true to who you are and what you believe in. Your unique perspective and voice are what set you apart, creating trust and a loyal following.
Adaptability has also been crucial. The ability to adjust to changing circumstances, whether it’s evolving content, learning new technologies, or responding to audience feedback, has kept me relevant and responsive. Embrace change and be willing to pivot when necessary.
Discipline has played a key role in building a successful podcast and business. Consistent effort and dedication helped me stay focused on my goals and maintain a high standard of quality.
Congruence, the alignment between my beliefs, values, and actions, has been vital. Ensuring that what I say and do is in harmony with who I am further strengthens authenticity and trust. Make sure your actions reflect your true values, as this alignment builds integrity and deepens connections with others.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed, one of the most effective ways to regain balance is by not taking life too seriously. Embracing a lighter perspective helps me reconnect with my inner peace.
Meditation also helps me find calm. Taking a few minutes to focus on my breathing and clear my mind can work wonders. It’s a simple yet powerful way to center myself and let go of unnecessary worries.
It’s about not sweating the small stuff and giving myself permission to relax and enjoy the journey. Life is too short to be bogged down by every little stressor. By keeping things in perspective and connecting with my inner peace, I can better handle whatever comes my way.
My advice to anyone feeling overwhelmed is to find joy in the moment and not take things too seriously. Whether through letting go, meditation, or simply stepping back and taking a breath, these strategies can help you reconnect with your inner peace and navigate life with a lighter heart.
