Meet Susie Adamson

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Susie Adamson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Susie below.

Hi Susie, so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?

I feel a deep sense of responsibility to represent not just myself but my family, my gender, my ethnicity, my faith, etc. My cultural upbringing is not one of individualism but of the communal and familial, so it’s been ingrained in me that I do not exist or operate as an island.

My faith practice also dictates that I live as a responsible steward of the resources and privileges that I have been entrusted with. Luke 12:48 says, “To whom much is given, much will be required.” I receive that not as a burden, but a gift.

All of this gives me the confidence and motivation to not be intimidated by the others in the room, even if they have more authority, standing, or power.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am a real estate agent and productivity coach with over a decade of experience helping my colleagues streamline their workflows and elevate their business practices. As a top-producing agent and team leader, I specialize in optimizing processes and building systems that enhance efficiency and client service.

My mission is to help agents work and live with greater purpose and productivity by making confident, goal-aligned decisions. Through coaching, workshops, and my transformative Systems Accelerator service, I teach agents how to leverage systems, routines, and tools to manage transactions, streamline operations, and stay on track. I offer virtual and on-site coaching to help agents reduce stress, improve consistency, and scale their businesses.

I’ve been featured on Compass 6AMERS, Momentum Monday, and the We’re Doing This Right, Right? podcasts, sharing insights on how agents can work smarter, not harder.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, three key qualities have been instrumental in my journey:

1. Establishing Systems – The ability to create and stick to systems has been a critical component of my success and well-being. Real estate (and life!) is full of moving parts, and without systems, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and burned out. Everyone has processes, but not everyone documents them. Without codifying your processes, it’s impossible to refine how you operate and establish any consistency.

2. Knowing Your Strengths & Weaknesses – Recognizing my strengths and weaknesses has been crucial in building a sustainable business. I’ve learned to establish habits that support both my natural abilities as well as systems to compensate for areas of weakness. This self-awareness is also crucial for outsourcing or delegating tasks that drain my energy or aren’t the best use of my time–creating structure, automating tasks, and ensuring consistency, so I don’t have to rely on memory or willpower.

3. Reading the Room & Communication – Whether working with clients, team members, or coaching agents, understanding people’s needs and challenges is crucial. The ability to listen, help people feel heard, ask the right questions, and provide clear, actionable guidance has helped me build strong relationships and create lasting impact.

Advice for Those Early in Their Journey

1. Master Your Systems Early – Don’t rely on memory. Start documenting your processes, checklists, and best practices from day one. The more structured your workflow, the more time and mental space you’ll have to focus on growth.

2. Establish Productive Habits – Success isn’t built on big, one-time efforts but on small, consistent actions. Develop daily routines that support your business, like time-blocking for lead generation, following up with clients, and reviewing your pipeline. Good habits compound over time, making your work more efficient and less stressful.

3. Prioritize Relationships Over Transactions – Especially if you are in a sales role, it’s tempting to make sales the outcome. However, real estate (and coaching) is a relationship business. Focus on clear communication, active listening, and adding value. The stronger your relationships, the more opportunities will come your way—whether through referrals, collaborations, or long-term client loyalty.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

I am a voracious reader and I love learning and growing from other people’s insights and research. A few of the books I have found most impactful in the past few years are: Atomic Habits, The Happier Hour, The Happiness Advantage, Checklist Manifesto, and Supercommunicators. They all reinforce the importance of systems, developing and maintaining small habits to make lasting progress, and establishing routines that fuel well-being and positive relationships.
