Meet Susy Schieffelin

We were lucky to catch up with Susy Schieffelin recently and have shared our conversation below.

Susy, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

My resilience comes from a deep and unwavering faith in something greater than myself… what I call love. Some people call it God, Source, Spirit, or the Universe, but to me, that higher power is love in its purest form. Over the years, I’ve learned that when life doesn’t go the way we think it should, it’s often guiding us toward a deeper experience of that love.

One of the greatest teachers of resilience in my life has been my journey with alopecia areata. I started losing my hair around age seven and spent so many years trying to fix myself… searching for answers, hiding my truth, and believing that something was wrong with me. When nothing worked – not the medications, not the treatments, not even the moments when my hair grew back temporarily, I felt completely lost. I turned to alcohol and prescription drugs to numb the pain, and eventually reached a point of such darkness that I didn’t want to live anymore.

That was my turning point. In full surrender, I made a choice: either to give up or to wake up. I decided to live. And from that moment, I began to look for the gift within the challenge. I started writing letters to my alopecia, expressing my anger, sadness, and grief. In time, I began to see that it wasn’t a curse, it was a teacher. It shaped me into who I am and led me to discover a life rooted in hope, healing, and service.

Since then, every obstacle, heartbreak, loss, or setback, has become another opportunity to return to love. I’ve learned to trust that what’s meant for me will never miss me, and that everything unfolds in divine timing. I begin each day in prayer and meditation before my two beautiful children wake up, aligning my will with something higher and allowing love to lead.

Sound healing has been one of the greatest tools on that journey. The vibrations of the crystal alchemy singing bowls help me relax into the experience of life and release what no longer serves. Each time I play, I’m reminded that resilience isn’t about pushing through, it’s about surrendering to the harmony that already exists within and around us.

Today, that’s why I share sound healing with others… as a vessel of hope, peace, and remembrance. I truly believe that everything we go through, no matter how hard, carries either a lesson or a blessing. When we learn to listen, to surrender, and to trust love’s plan, life becomes beautifully magical. We realize that resilience isn’t about surviving, it’s about awakening.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Right now, one of the things I’m most excited about is The Copper Vessel Collective, my online sound healing membership and global community for heart-centered souls who are ready to live with more peace, clarity, and alignment.

After nearly a decade of teaching sound healing and mentoring spiritual entrepreneurs through The Sound Healer’s Academy, I wanted to create an accessible space where anyone, whether they’re brand new to sound or seasoned in their practice, could experience the profound healing and transformation that sound offers.

Each month inside the membership, I host live and on-demand sound baths, guided meditations, and energetic practices to help our members reset their nervous systems, raise their frequency, and reconnect with their highest selves. It’s a sanctuary of calm and inspiration and a space where people can breathe, heal, and remember who they truly are.

What feels most special about The Copper Vessel Collective is the community that has formed within it. It’s truly a gathering of like-minded souls who are committed to growth, healing, and living from a place of love. I often say that sound healing found me when I needed it most, and now, through TCVC, I get to share that same peace and possibility with thousands of people all over the world.

As we move into this next season, I’m focused on expanding the membership experience even further – adding new themes, live virtual gatherings and healing circles, and mini challenges like our Fall Frequency Reset to help members align their energy with the rhythms of the seasons. My mission has always been to make healing and spiritual connection feel beautiful, grounded, and accessible, and The Copper Vessel Collective is the heart of that vision coming to life.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, the three qualities that have been most impactful on my journey are commitment and consistency, community and mentorship, and the courage to stretch beyond my comfort zone and be seen.

Commitment and consistency have truly been everything. There were so many times when I questioned myself, felt like an imposter, or wondered if things were ever going to work out, but I kept showing up anyway. Even when it felt messy or unclear, I just kept taking the next aligned step. Looking back now, I see that every small act of showing up built the foundation for everything I have today.

Community and mentorship have also been essential. I really believe that we are not meant to do this alone. Having mentors, coaches, and a supportive team has helped me navigate challenges, stay accountable to my vision, and collapse timelines that would have taken me years to figure out on my own. To this day, I still reach out to my mentors and trusted friends for guidance – sometimes multiple times a day! Surround yourself with people who expand you and hold you to the highest version of yourself.

And finally, having the courage to stretch outside my comfort zone and be seen. I believe that you will never feel “ready.” But the important thing is to start anyway. Do it even if you feel afraid. I’ve learned that excitement can feel a lot like anxiety. So instead of pulling back when something feels big, I try to reframe it as excitement for what’s to come. The key to this is taking care of your energy and your nervous system first. Live in integrity with your practice. Practice what you teach. Do the inner work that allows you to stay regulated and rooted as you expand.

Bonus lesson: nothing is separate. Everything that has happened in your life, every challenge, every job, every relationship is part of the beautiful tapestry that makes you you. You don’t need to reinvent yourself to succeed; you just need to integrate who you already are. Use the tools in your toolbox. Trust that God has already placed the breadcrumbs on your path. Your job is simply to follow them… with faith, humility, and an open heart.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?

My ideal client is someone who feels a deep inner calling… a pull toward something more… even if they don’t yet know exactly what that “more” is. They’re usually in a season of awakening or transition, seeking greater alignment, purpose, and peace in their life. Sometimes they’re navigating burnout, anxiety, or uncertainty, and they’re ready to connect with themselves and with Spirit in a more grounded, loving, and empowered way.

For my sound healing membership, The Copper Vessel Collective, the ideal member is someone who wants to experience healing as a lifestyle, not just as something they do once in a while. They’re committed to nurturing their energy and nervous system through regular practice, community, and intention. They want to feel calm, inspired, and connected, even amidst the noise of everyday life.

For The Sound Healer’s Academy, my ideal student is someone who not only wants to experience their own transformation but also feels called to share healing with others. Many of my students are already professional yoga teachers, wellness practitioners, or coaches who want to integrate sound healing into their work or leave a corporate job to share healing full time. At the same time, there are many people who join because they have been impacted by sound healing in some way and are ready to start a new chapter, follow their soul’s purpose, and see where it leads.

Ultimately, what makes someone an ideal client isn’t their job title or background, it’s their willingness to grow. My ideal client is inspired by love and willing to show up with an open heart, trust the process, do the inner work, and believe that they are worthy of a life that feels peaceful, abundant, and aligned. My work is for those who are ready to remember who they truly are, and to live from a place of authenticity, possibility, and Truth every day. My work is for people who are ready for miracles and abundance to become their way of life!
