We were lucky to catch up with Swych recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Swych, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
Like so many others I got my work ethic from my parents. Growing up I would always admire their drive
to be better than the previous day. They worked hard and respected the job/career they had. Learning through them
I always make sure I’m on time, prepared, and eager to learn something new every day!
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
When I was a kid I found myself doodling and drawing. I would draw on anything and everything I could. I knew
that being creative was the avenue I wanted to go. As I got older I would meet like minded people in school. From there I would learn more skills and techniques throughout my education.
I knew I wanted some sort of career in the arts world. I graduated college with a BA in Graphic Design. I’ve had a pretty good career in it but I found more passion in spray painting and creating murals. Painting murals allows me more creative freedom
with clients and their visions. I like to use letter manipulation, bold bright colors, characters, etc. to tell a story.
I’ve had the privilege of traveling the country with my career and meeting new artist throughout! Murals are becoming a big thing today and helps bring exposure to businesses!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I would say three qualities that are very impactful to me are
1. Being professional
2. Always willing to learn
3. Don’t worry what others think
My advice to others would be, you have to go get the work, it won’t come to you always. Don’t be afraid to say no as well
as don’t take it to personal to hear the word no. You will hear plenty of NOs in your career but the one YES could launch
your career in a way you never thought.
Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?
I would spend that decade traveling and painting where ever I can. Life is to short and there is so much more out there to see. There are parts of the world that can humble us. There’s so much to learn from different cultures and people
