Meet Sydnee Wade

We recently connected with Sydnee Wade and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Sydnee, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
Through my lifelong involvement in performing of all kinds, team sports, and martial arts, I’ve discovered the importance of connecting with others and being part of a team; which has actually been a significant driving force behind my love for teaching. Starting martial arts at a young age, I dedicated myself to American karate and had the opportunity to perform throughout the Southeast. Embracing the “fake it til you make it” mindset, I gradually built my confidence. However, a pivotal moment came during a tournament when the Schmetzer family, Junior Olympians, approached me after a performance I spent weeks perfecting, and generously became my mentors. Under their guidance, I was pushed to new limits in conditioning, weapons practice, flexibility, and sparring. This led to remarkable success for our team on the circuit. So, it wasn’t just one instance that shaped my self-confidence; rather, it was the ongoing commitment, resilience, and self-belief that developed over time, even during moments of doubt and challenge.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m Sydnee Wade, also known as KydKong, a versatile DJ based in Atlanta with over 10 years of classical training and extensive music experience. While I was initially influenced by R&B, Jazz, and Hip-Hop, my love for the auditory arts extends far beyond any specific genre. It was through discovering my genuine connection with the vibrant rave community and my passion for PLUR that I found my focus in Electronic Music and Music Fusion. Now, my aim is to constantly push boundaries and bring a fresh and innovative artistic approach to the EDM scene.
I’ll admit, there are still moments of nervous excitement before I take the stage. However, as soon as I step behind the decks, something truly magical happens. It’s an incredible honor to enter my “office” and be able to tap into my authentic energy and personality, creating an electrifying atmosphere that deeply resonates with the audience and sets the dance floor ablaze!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three most impactful aspects in the journey are passion, adaptability, and networking. When I first started DJing, I created a weekly show on Twitch for consistency and getting used to performing in front of people. I think that being a great DJ in 2023 also requires a bit of the ability to be personable. To connect with the crowd. I don’t think you need an online show to acquire this, but staying consistent in learning a new skill whether it be beat matching or use of the Camelot wheel can make all the difference.
Also, starting out, it’s often that you’ll secure an opening slot. Opening slots require a lot of crowd reading. Being able to mix it up based off of crowd response is an invaluable expertise.
Simply put, my advice is: Nurture your passion, embrace a growth mindset, consistently refresh your skill set, and actively engage with your community.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I’m always looking for people to collaborate with! All sorts of people from all sorts of backgrounds, from DnB to hybrid trap to bass house, I’m down. Additionally, I definitely want to incorporate as many live instrumentals into my production as possible. Please contact me at kydkongbooking@gmail.com or my manager, Alaska, at kydkongmgmt@gmail.com!
