Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sydney Alexandria. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Sydney , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I get my resilience from the fire I walked through and the decision to rise from the ashes, not just for me, but for everyone I’m called to serve.
There was a moment when my life shifted in an instant. I survived a near-death experience at the hands of someone I once loved deeply, someone battling a manic bipolar episode. That moment could’ve shattered me. Instead, it cracked me open. In the quiet aftermath, I made a choice: I was going to breathe again — freely, intentionally, and on purpose.
That breath became a movement.
That movement became a mission.
I founded The Breathe Lounge and Breathe Free 501(c)(3) as a declaration — that wellness, healing, and peace are birthrights, not luxuries. Resilience, for me, isn’t about just bouncing back. It’s about transforming pain into power, trauma into testimony, and grief into growth.
My resilience is rooted in:
My daughter, who watches me lead with love and reminds me why generational healing matters.
My community, especially Black women and Black men, who are often told to be strong but not shown how to be whole.
My practices, yoga, meditation, breathwork, storytelling, and stillness — they’re not just trends; they’re survival tools.
My global connections, working alongside the Nakujali Foundation in Uganda, whose people embody resilience by rising from unimaginable hardship with fierce courage and unbreakable spirit, continually inspires me to rise higher and serve deeper.
Let’s be clear — resilience isn’t just about bouncing back.
It’s deeper than that.
The word itself comes from the Latin resilire — meaning “to leap back.” But real resilience? It’s about leaping forward with more wisdom. It’s the ability to adapt, alchemize pain into power, and choose wholeness over survival. Resilience is a soul muscle — one you build through truth, through surrender, through rising.
Today, resilience for me looks like rewriting the narrative. It looks like building ecosystems of wellness, speaking truth, and making space for others to heal, grow, and thrive. It’s not about having it all together — it’s about choosing to come back home to yourself over and over again.
This is my purpose. This is my offering. And this is only the beginning.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m a Wellness Architect focused on building healing ecosystems that center multigenerational wellness, resilience, and economic empowerment. I founded The Breathe Lounge and Breathe Free 501(c)(3) after my own journey through trauma, turning pain into purpose. For me, wellness isn’t a luxury — it’s a birthright, and healing needs to be accessible, holistic, and something we pass down through generations.
What I love most about my work is how it brings together multigenerational community, especially Black women and men who’ve been taught to be strong but not always how to be whole. My ecosystem blends yoga, meditation, breathwork, storytelling, mental wellness, and economic empowerment initiatives so people and families can reclaim their power and rewrite their stories.
I’m really excited about my upcoming trip to Uganda, where my daughter & I will be teaching yoga and bringing a free trauma-informed yoga teacher training program to refugees in Nakivale Camp. This opportunity to support and uplift displaced communities through wellness is deeply meaningful to me.
On a personal note, my daughter Phoenix recently earned the Guinness World Record as the youngest yoga teacher in the world. She’s also launching her own kids’ wellness and lifestyle brand. It’s incredible to see her continuing the work of generational healing in her own way.
Right now, I’m stepping into a new era of global impact — expanding my healing ecosystem across borders, cultures, and generations. This relaunch isn’t just a moment; it’s a movement. One that’s rooted in resilience, rising in power, and ready to shift the world.
At the heart of it all, my mission is about creating a movement of breath, healing, resilience, and economic empowerment that transforms individuals, families, and communities. And honestly? This is just the beginning. I’m excited to keep growing and sharing with everyone ready to rise with us.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Resilience wasn’t just a trait, it became my foundation. Life cracked me open, and instead of breaking, I chose to breathe, heal, and rebuild. For those just starting out: let your healing be part of your becoming. Resilience grows in rest, in reflection, and in your ability to rise gently.
Creative vision helped me see beyond my circumstances. I’ve always been a builder — of spaces, movements, and energy. Even when I didn’t have a blueprint, I had a calling. My advice? Honor your ideas. Write them down. Move with intention. Don’t wait for perfect — move with what you have, and let the clarity come through the doing.
Community has been everything. The ecosystems I’ve built are rooted in connection — from local healing circles to global impact in places like Uganda. My advice: build with love, not ego. Prioritize real relationships. Wellness work is heart work — and it only thrives when we move together.
Trust your path, even when it curves, slows, or asks you to move with intention. Sometimes the most beautiful destinations require you to soften, surrender, and simply keep going.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
Mindfulness and self-help literature have been essential to my personal and professional growth, which is why I created the Mindful Book Club, now with over 300 members. We gather virtually and in person—in museums, meditation classes, and other inspiring spaces—to dive into books that help us deepen awareness, heal, and evolve.
It’s hard to choose just one book because so many have shaped me.
1. The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz stands out. Its teachings on being impeccable with your word, not taking things personally, and doing your best have been powerful guides in both life and leadership.
2. Think and Grow Rich shifted my mindset around abundance and possibility, while
3. The Celestine Prophecy opened me to the magic of synchronicity and spiritual awakening.
4. The 5AM Club is another favorite that encouraged me to own my mornings and build powerful daily rituals.
The biggest takeaway? Healing & Growth is an ongoing journey, one that calls for conscious awareness, self-love, and courage to rise again and again.
