Meet Sydney Boright

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sydney Boright a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Sydney , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

My parents have been my role models for as long as I can remember. I’m fortunate to come from a family of driven, entrepreneurial individuals. My father served as a United States Federal Marshal, and my mother worked as a film producer. Outside of their demanding careers, they invested their time and energy into buying and renovating homes and commercial properties. I admired them deeply—not only for the unique and inspiring careers they pursued, but also for the genuine passion they brought to everything they did. Their example instilled in me a strong work ethic and a desire to pursue work that I love. As a result, I began working as soon as I could, and I continue to be motivated by a deep passion for what I do.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Hey everyone, my name is Sydney Boright and I am the owner of Sirena Boutique here in Tampa, Florida. I started Sirena six months ago I founded Sirena out of a desire to escape the frustration of ill-fitting online purchases. I yearned for a boutique in Tampa where I could find everything I needed for my wardrobe in one refined space, rather than endlessly navigating countless stores. When I realized such a place did not yet exist, I took it upon myself to bring Sirena to life.

Sirena offers a curated selection that balances both high-end and accessible pieces. Named after the Spanish word for “mermaid,” Sirena holds a special significance for me. Growing up in a coastal town, I developed a deep affection for the effortlessly chic, beach-inspired style. Sirena embodies the perfect blend of beachside elegance and urban sophistication, catering to every aspect of a versatile wardrobe.

When I’m not at the store or shooting content you can find me at the beach or trying a new restaurant!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Connect with everyone you can. Some of my most loyal customers came from simple conversations while out to dinner. Building genuine relationships has been one of the most valuable parts of growing my business. I’ve also been incredibly fortunate to have amazing mentors back home in Delaware.

Starting a business comes with countless unknowns and “what ifs,” but believing in yourself and staying committed to your vision is key. My mentors played a crucial role in my journey—there were so many questions that couldn’t be answered by a quick search or found in a book.

One of the most impactful lessons I’ve learned is the power of self-belief. There will always be people who doubt you, but if you stay true to who you are and trust your instincts, you won’t let yourself down.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

My parents have had a profound impact on my life, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without their support. But at the core, the most meaningful thing they ever did for me was believe in me.

When I told them I planned to open a store, they naturally had questions and hoped I had a solid business plan—fortunately, I did. But what stood out most was that they never doubted my ability to make it happen. They trusted in my dedication, work ethic, and determination to succeed, and that unwavering belief made all the difference.
