Meet Sydney Tocci

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sydney Tocci. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sydney below.

Hi Sydney, thank you so much for agreeing to open up about a sensitive and personal topic like being fired or laid-off. Unfortunately, there has been a rise in layoffs recently and so your insight and experience with overcoming being let go is relevant to so many in the community.

Just before Thanksgiving this year, my company shut its doors, thus laying me off.

It was very hard initially, especially right before the holidays. Christmas is my favorite holiday and one I love to splurge on.

Because of the layoff, my husband and I had to dial back but our support system rallied together to help us through this difficult time.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

We are three moms (Sydney Tocci, Molly Luther, Ashley Kleckner), who were tired of the snacks made for our young kids that are marketed as healthy but really aren’t.

All the dyes and harmful additives don’t sit right with us so we decided to create snacks without the junk.

We have perfected our homemade fruit roll ups that have no dyes or additives. It’s just fruit!

We have also perfected our homemade cookies that have the cleanest ingredients possible. Better than any of the animal crackers you find at the stores!

We were also tired of the unclean skin care products offered. So we created clean soaps and lotions that smell amazing without anything harmful.

We wanted to share our healthy snacks and skin care products with others so every kid has access to healthy, homemade snacks and clean skin care products.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The best advice we can give is, know what you are good at and capitalize on it.

The three of us that own Red Hills Cottage each have different skills and knowledge that we bring together to help the business shine.

We also spent a lot of time talking to other vendors at events to gain more knowledge and build our network.

Never be afraid to ask for help and talk to other small business owners. There is enough room for everyone to grow!

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

We have started working with local businesses to have our snacks and skin care line on store shelves.

We want our products as accessible to families as possible!

We can be reached at redhillscottage1@gmail.com if there are any stores wanting to partner with us!
