We recently connected with Syla Baset and have shared our conversation below.
Syla, we are so happy that our community is going to have a chance to learn more about you, your story and hopefully even take in some of the lessons you’ve learned along the way. Let’s start with self-care – what do you do for self-care and has it had any impact on your effectiveness?
I have a saying that took sometime to stick with me but it goes…
No one will love you better than you and no will have your back better than you. I did something during 2020 or a little after, a list of things that made me happy. I broke it down to 10 things. I do them all the time to keep me happy and that practice self care in its self. We should all be able to be safe in our own company. You should never be afraid to be alone. You came into this work alone, you’re going to leave alone. Doing things in your alone time, spending time with you, doing things you enjoy, helps you get to know you a lot better. Am I wrong? Now when I’m alone and I get bored, I am basically never bored. My number 1 favorite thing to do is sleep. We all can use sleep. When I have nothing to do, I go “bing” I can take a nap. Also, your body will thank you for it later. I hear people say all the time, my family comes first. Doesn’t though? If you can’t take care you, how are suppose to take care of your family and other responsibilities. It just small doses of self care through out your day, that will make a big difference.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Hello, my name is Syla Baset. I am the owner of The HeartofBaset. I have been a practitioner of my craft for 10 years now. I specialize in tarot, cleansing, and working with energies. I do have special gifts of being able to see passed individuals and feeling their energy. I’ve had 2 near death experiences, first one when I was 2 years old and when I was delivering my daughter. I feel I’m connected to other energies because of those experiences. Knowing I work with energy, made me want to explore in reiki. I became a reiki master in April of 2024, specializing in healing animals and humans. Being diagnosed with anxiety and depression, struggling with mental health, really affected how I viewed myself and people I had around in my life. Self-Care and Self-Love was non-existent in my life during those dark times. Being able to get the help I needed after bouncing from medication to medication, to no medication, to bad habits… I made a tremendous turn around. After starting my self love journey and evolving into the person I am today, I wanted to share my positivity with anyone that could benefit from it. I am pursuing owning my own business, helping people heal and help people build self love to awaken their self love journey. I have a slogan for my business that says it all…

Helping help individuals through tarot, cleansing, sound healing, and reiki, it can remove blockages that can be causing the lack of self love being given. Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
To any self love journey, boundary setting is very important. You should set boundaries at the beginning of any relationship. It can be hard, but it’s beneficial to your needs in your journey. You start to see who and what supports you for the right reasons. Being able to say positive words to yourself is a must. If you’re always saying negative things to yourself, how are you suppose to love yourself. This was something I struggled with but remember, your words are power. Powering yourself with positive words, can fuel your mind into a positive mindset. Always do small amounts of self love to yourself. Listening to a song that feels your heart with joy, makes you want to get up, dance or move your feet, eat your favorite food, read your favorite book, etc. It’s the small amounts that serve big rewards.
Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
Individuals that struggle saying kind words to uplift themselves, battling mental health needing some guidance, giving out too much love before giving it to themselves, low energy and the list goes on. I created a safe space on platforms to help people express their feelings. Holding your emotions in can be fueling a ticking bomb. We’re human, we have emotions, we should be able to express them without being judged or belittled.
