We recently connected with Sylwia Szot and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Sylwia, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
My purpose is to help women feel confident, empowered, and beautiful in their own skin — whether they’re struggling with acne, have lost their brows, or are healing from scars after medical trauma.
As an immigrant, starting over in a new country wasn’t easy. I had to find myself, adapt to a new culture, and survive on my own. In my early 30s, I was still battling acne and couldn’t figure out how to clear my skin — until I committed to the right skincare regimen. That changed not only my skin but my self-esteem, and I realized so many other women were suffering in silence just like I had.
That’s what led me to esthetics, permanent makeup, and now paramedical tattooing. I want to serve women who are going through skin struggles, hair loss, or recovering from things like breast cancer — and help them feel whole again. My purpose is to guide them toward healing, confidence, and self-love, one treatment at a time.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I specialize in customized esthetic facials, permanent makeup for eyebrows and lips, as well as paramedical tattooing — including areola restoration for breast cancer survivors and scar camouflage.
My journey into the beauty and esthetics world began after many years working in a dental office. I decided to follow my passion and enrolled in a medical esthetics and electrology/laser hair removal program. That’s where I truly fell in love with skin — learning it inside and out, especially during my time working in a plastic surgeon’s office.
With a natural artistic background and attention to detail, I was drawn to the world of permanent makeup. I began with a microblading course through Phi Academy and quickly became committed to deepening my skills through continuing education in advanced PMU techniques and styles.
But my greatest passion — and the area of my work that’s closest to my heart — is paramedical tattooing. I was first introduced to areola restoration and scar camouflage during my esthetics training, and I knew instantly this was something I wanted to do. As someone with immediate family members who have battled cancer, this work carries deep emotional meaning for me. Being able to help women feel whole again after trauma or surgery is truly an honor and a driving force behind what I do.
Right now, I’m focused on expanding this service within my business and raising awareness about the healing power of paramedical tattooing. I’m continuing to train, grow, and connect with other professionals to serve my clients with the highest level of care and artistry.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, three qualities that had the most impact on my journey were resilience, curiosity, and compassion.
Resilience was key as an immigrant starting from scratch in a new country. Life didn’t always go as planned, and I had to adapt quickly, figure things out on my own, and keep pushing forward — even when things felt uncertain or overwhelming.
Curiosity led me to constantly seek knowledge. Whether it was understanding skin conditions, mastering permanent makeup techniques, or diving into paramedical tattooing, I never stopped learning. I believe ongoing education is essential in this industry — not just for staying current, but for growing your confidence and delivering the best results for your clients.
Compassion is what grounds everything I do. Helping women who have experienced trauma, struggled with acne, or gone through medical challenges like breast cancer requires empathy. You’re not just working on someone’s skin — you’re touching their story.
My adviceto anyone starting out:
* Stay humble but hungry. Never stop learning and investing in your skills.
* Don’t compare your journey to others — build your craft and stay aligned with your purpose.
* And most of all, lead with heart. When your work is rooted in service and care, success will follow.
As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
The most important book in my life is without a doubt **the Bible**. It has been a constant source of strength, wisdom, and guidance throughout my personal and professional journey.
One of the most impactful lessons it taught me is the power of **faith and perseverance**. As an immigrant starting over in a new country, and later as a single mother and business owner, there were many moments of uncertainty and struggle. The Bible reminded me that I am never alone, and that with faith, I can overcome anything — even the things that once seemed impossible.
Another lesson that shaped me deeply is the importance of **serving others with love and compassion**. That’s something I carry into my work every day — whether I’m doing a facial, helping someone feel confident through permanent makeup, or restoring dignity for a cancer survivor through paramedical tattooing.
It also taught me to trust in **God’s timing**, not just my own plans. That shift in perspective has helped me find peace in the process, even when life didn’t go the way I expected.
