Meet Symone Butler

We recently connected with Symone Butler and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Symone, so excited to have you with us today and we are really interested in hearing your thoughts about how folks can develop their empathy? In our experience, most folks want to be empathic towards others, but in a world where we are often only surrounded by people who are very similar to us, it can sometimes be a challenge to develop empathy for others who might not be as similar to us. Any thoughts or advice?

I began developing a strong sense of empathy at a very young age—around 5 years old. My mom intentionally enrolled me in an elementary school that prioritized diversity, not just in terms of ethnicity, but also in ability. Many of my classmates had visible disabilities, and it wasn’t uncommon to see students in wheelchairs. At that age, this was a new experience for me, as I hadn’t been exposed to that kind of diversity before. I remember one of my kindergarten classmates who used a wheelchair. Being her peer and interacting with her daily helped me realize that she was no different from me. That early experience really shaped my understanding of inclusion and helped me develop genuine empathy for others.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m an herbalist, health and wellness expert, and ceramicist with a deep passion for helping people heal from the inside out. Through my work, I teach others how to use herbal medicine—like sea moss gel, healing teas, and tinctures—to support their overall well-being and guide them toward meaningful lifestyle changes.

What I find most special about what I do is the opportunity to deeply connect with the plant world and share that wisdom with my community. There’s something incredibly fulfilling about learning the medicinal properties of herbs and then turning that knowledge into accessible remedies and guidance for others who are ready to take control of their health.

In addition to my herbal offerings, I’ve started hosting immersive tea-making workshops, which have been such a beautiful way to blend education and experience. Participants learn about the healing benefits of different herbs while creating their own personalized tea blends—it’s interactive, grounding, and empowering all at once.

I’m also excited to be launching new products this April, including adaptogenic tinctures, a calming adaptogenic tea blend, and an herbal allergy tea blend—perfect for supporting the body through stress and seasonal changes.

Whether through hands-on workshops, one-on-one guidance, or nourishing herbal products, my goal is to make natural healing more approachable, enjoyable, and transformative for everyone.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, the three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are perseverance, networking, and nourishing my community.

Perseverance has helped me push through challenges and stay grounded in my purpose, even when things felt uncertain. Networking has opened so many doors—some of my most meaningful opportunities came from simply showing up, introducing myself, and staying connected. But most importantly, nurturing my community has been the foundation of everything. The people who support you, believe in your vision, and share your work are invaluable.

For anyone just starting out, I’d say: don’t be afraid to ask for help or feedback, and don’t underestimate the power of community. Stay consistent, stay curious, and remember that growth comes with time. Keep showing up for your vision, and others will too.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Yes, I’m absolutely open to partnerships and collaborations! I’m currently looking to connect with individuals, businesses, and organizations that are interested in hosting wellness workshops—whether it’s for community events, team-building experiences, or health-centered programming. I also welcome collaborations with health food stores, boutiques, and wellness-focused spaces that are looking to stock unique, handcrafted herbal products like sea moss gel, tinctures, teas, and more.

If you’re passionate about holistic health, herbal medicine, or supporting small-batch makers, I’d love to connect. You can reach out to me via Instagram @hellahealthyllc or email me at [email protected] to start the conversation!
