We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tahmina Q. a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Tahmina with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My mother — 100%. A 64-year-old self-made entrepreneur, she was the only one out of 10 siblings to make it out of Pakistan. She raised three children as a single mother in a foreign country and built herself into a successful entrepreneur. She is a beast when it comes to work ethic, and I know I carry the same genetic makeup within me. She wakes up every day with enthusiasm for her work, and through her, I’ve learned the gratification and value of working hard for the life you desire.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m the owner of a branding agency, The Brand Agents. I partner with high-profile individuals and companies to help them connect with their audiences in a deeper, more authentic way through various brand activations — for example, private industry events, brand management, media kits, websites, and more.
Most recently, I successfully developed a private, industry-only event series in LA called Espresso ( Espresso Events LLC). Within just four months of moving to LA, the series has reached maximum capacity three months in a row and has reach international grounds, with RSVPs featuring VIP guests and industry leaders across sports, media, and music.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three major qualities have been the most impactful in my journey:
Not conforming to societal pressures. I held onto a desired reality that was true to me, and I had a strong belief in myself to stay committed to the vision, even when it didn’t align with the “norm.”
Positive thinking. I knew that whether it was transitioning from a traditional job to entrepreneurship or moving countries on my own, there was always a major gamble involved. But I’ve always chosen to bet on the good—the optimism that everything can go well is what kept me going.
Keeping good company around me. I’ve surrounded myself with people who think big, believe in themselves, and support my dreams—a community that elevates each other.
My advice would be to stay hyper-focused on your goals without allowing other people’s projections or fears to divert you from your dreams, visions, and belief systems. The world is a beautiful place where dreams come true for people every day. External voices and distractions can trick you into doubt and fear. Keep your belief systems intact, and don’t let anything or anyone interfere.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I’m excited to partner with and be endorsed by major companies that want to support a space designed for high-caliber cultural shifters. My vision is for Espresso to be present at major sporting events like NBA All-Star Weekend, post-award show celebrations, and as part of elevated album and film premiere rollouts.
