We recently connected with Tahnee Wilson and have shared our conversation below.
Tahnee , thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?
It has taken me many years to START to be ok with simply being me. I have cared way too much for way too long about what others think about me. However, in the last few months, I have been pushed to the breaking point of the boundaries I had on myself. Since being forced to break through those, it has shed light on the beauty of being unapologetically myself. I stand out in a room because I know why I’m in that room. I know what I have to offer to that room. When faced with contention or pushback from said room, I spin it for the person pushing back at me to see my value. This stems from having faith in myself and faith that I will be led exactly where I need to be.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am the owner and maker of The Broken Circle Soap Co., a bath and body product business that focuses on breaking cycles whether it be from generational traumas or transitioning to holistic body care. We emphasize using ingredients that Mother Nature provides as the foundation for all of our products. It is very important to me that I create a space where people feel welcomed, and valued and where they can heal from the inside out. We have been an online business for about a year and a half but have recently expanded into our first brick and mortar store front! We are very excited about it. It is located in Oro Valley Az, at 11061 N. Oracle Rd. Ste 9. Oro Valley, Az. 85737. *Directly under the Life Storage building. We have just launched all our yummy fall scents in both our body products and our candles and have also bundled together some of our best sellers to make gift-giving simplistic for all this year.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
My tenacity, my medical background, and my unwillingness to quit have been the driving forces as to how I got where I am today. My advice is to never give up on yourself. Building a business is not for the weak. It is also not an overnight thing. It takes research, knowledge, learning, failing, trying new things, complete teardown, and rebuilding sometimes. It takes strength, and willingness to fail and learn from it and you must NEVER quit. Take all failures as lessons and just get better. I promise you, it will pay off if you are consistent.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I would love to collaborate with like minded people. What that would look like for me, is anyone who is on a healing journey. Whether it be mentally, physically, spiritually, or all 3. I also would love to collaborate with people who appreciate the beauty of mother nature. People who value all-natural bath and body products or just all natural in general. People who see the importance of healing both inside and outside and how that can make our lives so much better. I would love to collaborate with moms who are building their businesses or who love living the all natural lifestyle. I would also love to collaborate with moms who do all the things and still make it work. I’m a mom of 2 toddlers and building a business while being a mom is tough. It’s so important to shed light on that! I am open to ANY type of collaboration. I would love to hear from you!
