Meet Tajheeta Williams

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tajheeta Williams a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Tajheeta, really appreciate you joining us to talk about a really relevant, albeit unfortunate topic – layoffs and getting fired. Can you talk to us about your experience and how you overcame being let go?
Everyone went thru the period of coronavirus. Prior to this i had never been laid off or let go from a job. It was hard for me, i always had something lined up income wise. I knew i had to do something but not sure of what. So one day i had a friend over to discuss life lately and she had mentioned her going child having eczema and how nothing she used seemed to work. I immediately went to research and found some natural ingredients that could help with the issue; the number one behind CBD . I was so intrigued, i looked everywhere for info; i bought things i shouldn’t have in a time like that. And i gave my friend the product to try and she said it worked well for him she wanted to see if it could for herself as well. She was in love! She immediately asked for more and told me to start selling it. I played with the idea but once we came up with a business name it just took off. CBD T! I subsidized my normal income and was proud that i didn’t need a government job in that moment .

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I make CBD skincare oils and creams for the face. I also make candles, which some include CBD . My candles purify the air with the candle wick burning while giving a calming vibe. I want to create healthy, natural skin products for the face and body. Without all the additives, fragrances and acids. I love what i do because i know learning about skin is hard to grasp. I wanna simplify that.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Thinking back i remember the dedication, passion, and motivation it took to start up. Putting in the time and money is very hard and stressful while still maintaining a 9-5 job. I still set aside the time after “work” to meet deadlines and create content for CBD T. I also had such a passion for herbs and natural oils it was simple for me to view it as hobby than a business. Although at times i wanted to go to bed or go out with friends; i still kept in mind the larger goal.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
In this day and age, everyone wants to run a business. It’s been a bit overwhelming to create an audience and a loyal audience at that as well. I always worry about my products being priced too high or if others will like the smell or whatnot and it showed in my work and sales; i stopped believing and others did too. Since then i don’t care. The right audience and buyers will come. Everyone has something to showcase, it’s my job to prove why mine is the best, and that’s all i think about now.
