Meet Taliah Ferguson

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Taliah Ferguson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Taliah, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

My work ethic comes from failure at an early age. I always felt like I chose the wrong educational path and this resulted in feeling behind in life. Now that I am more mature, I want to make up for lost time. I like to compete with my past self and work with intention and purpose. My peers and customers have also helped me with my work ethic; knowing that people believe in me and want to see me win and succeed has motivated me to really apply myself.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am a self starter and passionate skincare healer. My story started with feeling underrepresented in the beauty space. I always felt like my skin and body suffered from dryness and dullness. I wanted to create something for darker skin tones and people who suffered with hyper-reactive skin conditions such as eczema, hyperpigmentation and dry, scaly skin.

Professionally, I wanted to created a clean and gentle yet effective line that made people feel more confident in their skin. I did plenty of research to find natural ingredients that nurtured the skin. I pride myself on developing formulas that really work and didn’t compromise your health.

I’m hoping to expand my skincare line for babies and children. I am a mother to a child who has eczema and rashes and I’m always worried about what I’m putting on his skin. Hopefully, my products will ease the mind of other parents struggling with the same thing.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The three qualities that were most impactful in my journey is community, transparency and grace. When you know that listening to your customers needs and wants is vital to your journey, then you will do fine. Sometimes I conduct surveys or speak to potential customers about what they feel is missing in the market and I always take that into consideration.

I also feel like being transparent in your ingredients is key. I pride my business on integrity.

My advice for folks early on in their journey is to be consistent and to give yourself grace.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

Whenever I feel overwhelmed, I take a break and regroup. I try not to push myself over the edge. I also talk to people I trust because I know they will help me see that I am on the right path.
