Meet Tamala Austin

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tamala Austin. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tamala below.

Hi Tamala, so happy to have you with us today and there is so much we want to ask you about. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others developed certain skills or qualities that we are struggling with can be helpful. Along those lines, we’d love to hear from you about how you developed your ability to take risk?
A risk-taker is someone willing to take a leap and willing to fail. A risk-taker is a rule breaker, change maker, disruptor. The status quo is not good enough. For me being a risk-taker is all about my Faith! I do not allow certain ideologies such as, “It’s Never Been Done Before”, “I Am The First To Do It”, “I Don’t Have The Money”, or “Where Do You Start”, stop me from taking a leap. My faith has propelled me to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. Instead of saying what if I fail, I choose to say what if I succeed.I am not afraid to take on a challenge, or try something new. Likewise, I think it is great to get out of your comfort zone every once in a while. Otherwise, you stop yourself from growing and learning new things. For me it is simple, acknowledge the risks but do it anyway! It is easy because I have complete confidence in God to take risks.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
A person’s health is their most valuable asset. The number of people interested in improving their health has significantly increased, according to a 2023 article by Money.com. With a focus on assisting business professionals and their families in maintaining their health from the inside out, Tamala Austin is a certified health coach in the lifestyle management sector. She firmly believes in the sentiment that “Your Health Is Your Wealth.” She is also the author of “Love My Body Again: 21 Days of Meditation to Live Your Best Healthy Life Now,” which offers a holistic and innovative approach to creating a brighter and more fulfilling life.

After experiencing a few minor health challenges, Tamala’s commitment to living a healthy lifestyle became more meaningful. To improve her health, she began juicing and making smoothies as a healthier option for herself and her daughter. In 2013, she was in her kitchen when she had the idea for J.I.V.E. Juice Company. A very special meaning is associated with the acronym J.I.V.E., which stands for Juicing Is Very Essential. The meaning truly resonates with the lively and vibrant colors used in the company’s branding, which directly align with the variety of fruits and vegetables used in the cold-pressed juices to support building a healthy immune system.

From the very beginning, Tamala was conscious of the fact that an ever-increasing number of people were either already dealing with health issues or knew individuals who were interested in beginning their journey toward better health. Due to the overwhelming amount of positive feedback that she received after she started producing cold-pressed juices for people all over the City of Houston, she was inspired to pursue her dream of establishing a successful juice company that would not only serve a greater number of people but also the communities that were located in the surrounding areas.

J.I.V.E. Juice Company is the first African American woman-owned juice company of its kind to join the H-E-B Grocery Company and Whole Foods Market. J.I.V.E. Juice Company is currently sold in eighty locations in Houston and the surrounding areas. In 2019, during his biennial State of the State address, Governor Greg Abbott of Texas highlighted the success story of J.I.V.E. Juice Company’s founder, Tamala Austin. Governor Abbott mentioned in his speech how J.I.V.E. Juice Company went from being a home-based business to becoming a retail success.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Consistency in your business is far more important that you can imagine. Being consistent allows you to establish awareness, build trust and deliver your services efficiently and profitably. Without it, your business is more likely to fail. Consistency is key to the success of your busines..

Creativity and innovation in entrepreneurship link by which creativity is the intellectual activity to create new ideas while innovation is the action taken to transform the new ideas into a result. I. Creativity boosts business reputation.

In a company with healthy connections, information can be exchanged more quickly, people are able to understand concepts more easily, and there is a greater level of trust. This makes it easier for the business to initiate changes and adapt to the market.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
Networking has been my biggest area of grwoth the past 12 months. In order to Win, you have to show up! Effective networking is an art, and for entrepreneurs, it’s a pivotal component of their journey towards success. It involves deliberate planning, consistent effort, and a genuine approach to building and maintaining meaningful relationships within and beyond their industry. You have to be in the room because you never know who is present that may be able to help you.
