Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tamara Gammon. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tamara , appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
“Evolution” is the key to ongoing creativity! I believe it is important to not stay in one lane with my art and/or designs. Trying new materials, new techniques and new audiences.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
As we enter this new phase in the process, I am extremely focused. My art is finishing its way into the hearts, homes and commercial buildings. “The Evolution of a Girl” has been a cathartic memoir..
In August 2022, my solo show at Art Meso in Times Square in New York City, NY showcased my silhouette paintings and charms-The Pandora Series.
My has been featured in retailers in Phipps Plaza, Westside Market, and West Elm stores across the United States, including New York, Atlanta, Houston, Miami and Orlando.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Tenacity, Organization and Strategic Partnerships have been most impactful to my career. Pink Cole-Hayes has a very important book out; “I hope you fail”; and that hit me hard and resonated with me.
Failure is a key ingredient in success! I failed in 2022 even though it was my highest grossing year. I failed to plan effectively for the unknowns. After a year successful 8 months, I was hit in my back by a. driver who became distracted; it changed my life.
I did not have enough staff in place to stock retail spaces, nor did I have the team in place to execute day-to-day business contracts while I was out for 6 months recovering; that has since changed.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am looking to partner with organizations who align with my values and goals. There are several partnership discussions to be had; but I am patient! The ideal gallery or individual would be one with a very unique and diverse audience.
Recently, I have partnered with Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation to show 4 different themed art shows. New states and countries are opening up for me to paint live and showcase the diversity of my collection and I am excited!
