We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tamilee Webb. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tamilee below.
Tamilee, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
My father was the driving force in planting the seed to find my purpose.
As a young girl, I remember my father telling me “whatever it is you want to be or do when you grow up you must have an education as your foundation. Learn good business skills because you’ll need these skills no matter what profession you decide to go into”.
During my University years, I first thought I wanted to be a nurse because I love helping others. However, I quickly learned I’d rather help people stay in shape and prevent health issues.
Switching to Exercise Science and learning how the body functions to prevent injuries and increase overall strength.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Globally known for transforming millions of women’s bodies and their self-esteem through the popular BUNS OF STEEL Video series, along with award-winning products, and motivational speaking.
My passion for health and fitness has allowed me to produce numerous books, videos, DVDs, and equipment to promote a healthy living lifestyle.
My inspiration comes from those that have experienced the results of following my programs and the change it has created in their lives.
With so many workout videos, I decided to create WEBBWORKOUTS.COM which is an online streaming website with a membership to access all my videos. Each month a newsletter is sent out along with new workouts, healthy recipes, online zoom classes and so much more.
Want to work one on one with me, I offer 8-week online coaching. Personalized workouts to help you reach your fitness goals.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
1. Having a mentor! If you admire someone in your line of work, reach out and ask them to mentor you. Not all aspects of what they might do will fit your personality but you learn along the way. Learn from the best
2. Know what you’re not so good at and educate yourself or hire someone that knows it well and can teach you so it’s not a weakness.
3. Listen, learn, and don’t be afraid to try something out of the box. By listening to what your clients want, and or need you can better provide them with quality products, service, and more.
All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
Now I’m aging myself, but when I started out promoting my brand it was through newspaper ads, T.V. spots, guests on and daytime shows. There was no Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and all the platforms available today.
I find it interesting that we build our business on these platforms and yet they have the power to make or break you. My one obstacle is digital marketing and reaching my demographic.
This is where I would rather hire someone to direct me through this mase and spend more time on the creative side.
