We were lucky to catch up with Tammy Ford recently and have shared our conversation below.
Tammy , looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I would have to say that I get my work ethic from my Mom.
She always had so many things to do, help run the family farm, working outside of the home at the same time, taking care of 4 kids and she always had time to put a hearty meal on the table every day! I have never heard her complain even once in all my years that she had too much to do. I have had some great leaders at most of my jobs, however my mom is my inspiration.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I purchased a drone in 2023 and fell in love immediately!
I had been flying my drone recreationally for almost 1 year and then decided to take the plunge and do it professionally.
I am a FAA Certified Drone operator and work in the San Diego area where I can do work for any local business that want aerial footage, real estate, weddings, couples engagement, surfing videos and any other social or family video or photography needs.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Be persistent, keep learning and trying new things until it works.
Do not compare yourself to others! Oh I know it’s hard not to. You will have a different perspective and others will appreciate the talents that are yours. Most people who know me on social media can spot my work right away and that says a lot!
Connect with others that do the same type of work. Not only can you connect, see their talents and appreciate each others work, they will also help lift you up just when you need it! They understand and share the same struggles. Support each other and you will be surprised not only by the support, but also make some true connections along the way! I have been lucky in that regard, I have had clients and we have become friends.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
I think the biggest obstacle I’ve faced is marketing my work. It hasn’t been easy to get eyes on the work I do, In theory, social media would be the best place to showcase my work, but there are so many people competing for attention and trying to learn an algorithm that continuously changes has been challenging.
I am on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube and this week I am launching a website and I feel like this was the piece of the puzzle that I was missing!
