Meet Tammy Kushnir

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tammy Kushnir. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Tammy, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.

Creativity can go through periods of life and death. When I feel a creative block, I will often take a step back and try to meditate with my imagination until I feel another idea or image come into play. Taking breaks can help build back up new ideas I have found.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I have been an artist in one form or another all my life. I currently work with several galleries across the country as well as interior designers. I have also started licensing my art again too. I love to create abstract paintings as well as abstract landscapes and animal portraits. I paint mostly in acrylic but love to add modeling paste, ink and colored pencils too.
I often am inspired by nature and music to make my creations. I am always looking to do commissions if needed and have a fast turnaround.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I believe in persistence, confidence in your ability and patience are three skills needed to survive in the artistic field. Although sometimes these qualities can feel foreign , they will help anyone learn and get through the tough times as well .
Keep being persistent. I was rejected from one company over 20 times before I finally was accepted. Never give up!
Confidence- sometimes it can be hard to have but it is needed to keep going . Last but not least is patience. It can take a long time for results but it will happen when the time is right.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?

I often feel overwhelmed as I have OCD , anxiety and depression. While my medication does help with the severity, I also rely on music and meditation to calm me down. Sometimes just lying down and focusing on the issues helps me solve them.
