Meet Tanija Lynette

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tanija Lynette . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Tanija, we are so happy that our community is going to have a chance to learn more about you, your story and hopefully even take in some of the lessons you’ve learned along the way. Let’s start with self-care – what do you do for self-care and has it had any impact on your effectiveness?
I recently just started being big on self-care. At first I was like “oh I don’t need it, I think I balance everything well” until I crashed out and was so overwhelmed. Once that happened I started taking breaks from working wether it was a few days or a few weeks. I would take trips and leave my computer at home so I wouldn’t be tempted to work. I started enforcing my closings, I’m a people pleaser so that was definitely hard for me to do. I would also take myself on dates (dinner, ice cream, shopping sprees, whatever). I would also spend time with friends and family and completely disconnect from my business or of course I’d lay in the bed and do nothing for a day or so!

Self-care has had a huge impact on my effectiveness! Once I take those few days off I’m back ready to work 100x better with a clear mind and new ideas. My attitude is back up and i’m excited to work with my current clients and my new clients. When I take my self-care days not only do I feel and do better but my business feels and does better as well!

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Hey! I’m Tanija Lynette, your favorite entrepreneuHER. I’ve been doing all things social media for 2 years now, I actually just hit 2 years July 10th! I’ve been interested in the entrepreneur life since I was little and I thank God that I can say my dream has finally come true! I originally started making + selling clothes through my brand “Tanija Lynette” (shoutout to my old customers) but ventured off into graphics when people started asking who made my graphics and if I could make some for them.

As far as my services and overall business, I’m here to help small business owners show up and show out on social media! I work with a lot of local black owned businesses in the area and I absolutely love it, I love working with them because it’s time for the black community to show up and show out and get the recognition that we deserve. I offer services such as email marketing, full social media managing (creation, planning, scheduling), content creation, website design, and creative direction.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
If I had to choose three things I would say my creativity, my drive, and my work ethic were (still is honestly) the most impactful in my journey. I say creativity because my eye-catching designs is literally what got me noticed in the first place so that’s a bit self-explanatory. My drive has impacted my journey because everyone has a story and you can either let that story make or break you and I let that make me and I took all my pain and turned it into a business and changed my story. Lastly, my work ethic has been most impactful because one thing about me is i’m going to WORK! wether it’s clocking in or opening my computer it’s going to get done and it’s not going to ever stop, let my friends and family tell you I work to much lol but it’s gotten me where I am now.

The best advice I can give is take risks and don’t be afraid to ask…ask why, ask how, ask anything! I struggled finding myself so 1-2 years ago I probably wouldn’t be able to answer this question because I didn’t know who I was and I didn’t think I had any qualities but I took a risk and ask how my friends viewed me and it snapped me into reality that maybe I do have qualities, I’m self sabotaging and not seeing my own potential. So don’t be afraid to get honest feedback on yourself, sometimes you need to hear it. Even if you don’t want to hear it directly take one of those online quizzes and see what they say lol.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I am ALWAYS looking for collaborations! Collaborating is such a good way to get yourself and your business out there! I’m very open to who I work with, I generally meet with them via zoom or in person so really see if we’d be a great fit. Aside from combining services with other business owners I’m also down to put together events that benefit both businesses. If you are interested in collaborating with me please contact me at [email protected] or for my non-formal folks you can text me at (636) 674-9150 so we can set something up!
