Meet Tanya Dickie

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tanya Dickie a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Tanya, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

My mother

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I started my journey in fitness as a personal trainer, working one-on-one with clients and learning what truly motivates people to achieve their goals. Over time, I transitioned to teaching group classes, where I discovered my passion for keeping workouts fresh, fun, and engaging. My philosophy has always been to create a new experience in every workout—keeping things exciting and challenging so fitness never feels like a chore.

When the world changed during Covid, I saw an opportunity to adapt and reach even more people. I expanded my offerings to include online training. This allows me to bring Studio Alive wherever your are. My goal has always been to break down barriers, whether that’s time, location, or cost, so more people can discover how empowering movement can be.

What sets my approach apart is that it’s not just about the workouts—it’s about building a supportive community where people feel inspired, capable, and ready to tackle their goals at an affordable cost. Ten years after opening my fitness studio, I’m proud to see how far my vision has grown and how many lives I’ve been able to touch. I have trained many people throughout the US with amazing results.

If you’re looking for workouts that are never boring, challenges that push you in the best way, and a trainer who’s genuinely invested in your success, I’d love to help you on your journey.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The foundation of my journey has been my unwavering passion for helping others live healthier, stronger lives after working in the medical field for 25 years. Even when things didn’t work out as planned, that passion kept me moving forward. It’s what pushes me to keep evolving, whether it’s creating new workouts or finding innovative ways to connect with clients. Passion is the fuel that sustains momentum, even in challenging times.
I learned from a young age that success isn’t handed to you—you have to earn it through hard work and resilience. My mother instilled these values in me, teaching me the importance of perseverance and staying dedicated, no matter the obstacles. This mindset has carried me through the highs and lows of running a business.
For anyone starting their journey……
Find a purpose that lights you up inside and let it guide you. Dedication and resilience will help you overcome challenges, but passion will keep you going. Finally, always be open to learning and evolving—it’s the key to long-term success.learn how to pivot along each detour and keep reaching for the stars.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

Aside from my mom, which instilled my work ethic, a significant influence in my journey has been my husband. He has been my rock, my solid foundation.❤️
Also, people I’ve worked with—clients, colleagues, and even other trainers. Each of them has taught me valuable lessons, whether through feedback, collaboration, or simply observing their resilience.
