Meet Tanya Salcido

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tanya Salcido a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Tanya, you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?

For me, generosity has always been rooted in empathy. Growing up, I often felt the weight of other people’s emotions and needs—sometimes more than my own. While that sensitivity was overwhelming at times, it also shaped my heart. It taught me to notice the quiet struggles that don’t always get spoken out loud.

As I’ve grown, I’ve learned to channel that sensitivity in a healthier way—through Reiki and by holding safe space for others. My generosity comes from understanding how it feels to carry too much alone, and wanting to make sure others don’t have to.

I also believe generosity doesn’t have to be grand gestures. It can be presence, a kind word, listening without judgment, or creating a soft space where someone feels seen. That’s what guides me—in life and in Paz Reiki.

Today, that generosity shows up most clearly in my work with women who are learning to choose themselves again. Many of them have spent years giving everything to others—family, work, community—while putting themselves last. Through Reiki and energetic alignment, I help them release what isn’t theirs to carry and reconnect to their own inner rhythm.

When they choose themselves, something profound shifts:

✨ Emotional reset → they stop carrying everyone else’s weight.
✨ Nervous system calm → they handle challenges without spiraling.
✨ Mental clarity → decisions come faster, with less overthinking.
✨ Physical vitality → they feel less fatigue, fewer stress symptoms.
✨ Relationship depth → less reaction, more presence with friends and loved ones.
✨ Self-trust → they follow through on their boundaries without guilt.

That’s the generosity at the heart of my work: giving women a space to soften, exhale, and remember who they are—so they no longer have to hold it all alone.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m the founder of Paz Reiki, a heart-centered Reiki practice dedicated to helping women release stress, clear energetic weight, and feel at home in themselves again. Through Reiki sessions (both in-person and virtual), guided meditations, and seasonal practices, I create soft, supportive spaces where people can let go of what’s heavy and reconnect with their own clarity and calm.

What excites me most about this work is witnessing the shifts that happen in real time—when a client goes from feeling frazzled and burdened to breathing deeper, sitting taller, and feeling lighter. Healing doesn’t have to be complicated or intimidating. Sometimes, all it takes is the right energetic support to remind you of your own wholeness.

What makes Paz Reiki special is its blend of intuition, presence, and accessibility. Every offering is created to feel both sacred and approachable—whether it’s a private Reiki session, an energetically curated crystal bracelet, or a group sound healing experience. I’m proud that people walk away not only feeling clearer and calmer, but also seen and supported in a very real, human way.

What’s new

I’m currently focused on expanding my offerings in two exciting ways:

🌿 The Soft Return: A 30-Day Energetic Reset — a guided month-long journey with weekly distance Reiki sessions, integration tools, and rituals that help women regulate faster, feel emotionally lighter, and rebuild trust in themselves.

🌞 Paz Reiki Transcendence — Reiki-infused sound journeys in collaboration with local wellness studios, designed to align the chakras and restore balance in a deeply immersive way.

✨ And later this year, I’ll be unveiling The Realms Meditation Library—a collection of guided visual journeys that transport listeners into nature, cosmic, and elemental realms for deeper healing and imagination.

At the heart of everything I do is a simple truth: you’re not broken, and you don’t have to carry it all alone. My work is here to remind women of that, again and again.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, one of the most impactful qualities in my journey has been empathy and intuition. From a young age, I felt other people’s emotions deeply—even when I didn’t always understand what I was picking up. For a long time, that sensitivity overwhelmed me, but over time I’ve learned it is actually one of my greatest strengths. Trusting my intuition and allowing it to guide me has shaped the way I connect with others, especially in my Reiki work, where subtle energy and presence matter deeply. For anyone early in their journey, my advice is to treat your sensitivity like a gift rather than something to hide. Pay attention to how your body reacts in different spaces and around certain people—it’s one of the best teachers you’ll ever have.

Another key piece of my path has been resilience through self-healing. I had to walk through burnout, anxiety, and my own moments of disconnection before I could authentically hold space for others. That process taught me that true resilience isn’t about pushing harder—it’s about knowing when to pause, reset, and start again. If you’re just beginning, take care of your own energy first. The more rooted you are in your own practices—whether that’s journaling, meditation, or learning how to rest—the stronger your foundation will be for supporting others.

Finally, one of the qualities I’m most grateful for is the ability to create safe and accessible spaces. Healing can feel intimidating or mysterious, but I’ve learned the power of making it simple, gentle, and approachable. Holding space with compassion and without judgment is what helps people feel safe enough to open and release. For those starting out, the best way to develop this is by practicing presence. Listen fully, without rushing to fix or respond. Sometimes the most generous thing you can give another person is your undivided presence.

At the heart of it all, these qualities—intuition, resilience, and presence—have been the anchors of my journey. The techniques and skills can always be learned, but it’s the way you show up, both for yourself and others, that truly makes the difference.

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?

As Paz Reiki continues to grow, I often find myself pulled between creative expansion and the practical realities of running a business. I wear many hats—practitioner, guide, marketer, and business manager—and while I love the creative side of developing programs, meditations, and group offerings, it can sometimes feel like I’m stretched thin trying to do it all at once. The challenge is finding a rhythm that allows me to share my work without sacrificing the very balance and alignment that my business is built on.

To navigate this, I’ve been intentionally slowing down and shifting my focus toward steady, sustainable growth. That looks like prioritizing the projects that feel most aligned, simplifying where I can, and setting clear boundaries around my time and energy. I’ve also learned to embrace asking for support when needed, rather than carrying everything alone.

In many ways, this obstacle is also my teacher. It reminds me daily to embody what I teach: to regulate, to listen inward, and to trust that growth doesn’t have to be rushed. The practice will flourish most when I’m grounded and nourished myself. This lesson continues to shape not just how I work, but how I live.
