Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tanya Saunders. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tanya , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I’ve learned to love this question! I think purpose can take on several translations. I grew up in Michigan with immigrant parents from the Philippines. My “purpose” was to respect what they wanted or encouraged me to do which was just logical and practical, for example, study nursing because you can find a job anywhere, so I did. I moved to Chicago after I graduated and “adulted” there for a year before I went for my Master’s in Science to become a Nurse Anesthetist. It’s a job that I still do and love and is very much a part of my purpose. Let me explain. What I mean by “purpose can take on many translations”, is it can be concrete like a job/role (Nurse/Mom), or abstract like qualities (healer, teacher, educator, nurturer). I share this because why I used to cringe at the word purpose was because it surfaced a lot of confusion and not enoughness. I am a working mom, I love both, yet it caused a lot of guilt because there is a polarity. In 2019, I took a leap as an entrepreneur to build my lifestyle wellness consulting business and I got a Breathwork Certification. The breathwork journey (conscious breath patterns) took me deep into my body and left me experiencing what I have heard plant medicine provides. It was a quantum leap into a transformative and metacognitive awareness where you become aware of thinking about your own thinking from a spacious way. Most importantly, I became aware of how I felt in my body and what felt true or not. Since then, I dug deeper into more practices that offered deep self-reflection, including tropical astrology. Astrology offered me an understanding that my purpose is to shine with mother qualities like providing security at home and be a hard worker and leader with the work I do as a Nurse Anesthetist and Wellness Consultant. And because of the somatic practice of breathwork, I know what feels like truth of living my purpose or not in my mind, heart, and soul. When you are living your purpose, it feels meaningful.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Without a doubt Breathwork, Integrative Neurobiology, and Astrology were three areas of knowledge that has helped me grow the qualities and skills of awareness, empathy, gratitude, growth mindset, and resiliency.
My advice to the audience is to try breathwork. It’s a sustainable way to downregulate our overthinking mind that tries to self-sabotage us and think our way of our potential.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I would love to collaborate with other entrepreneurs and share the gift of breathwork to empower other working moms to release the stress and uplevel their work/life juggle.
