Meet Tara Gazdik

We recently connected with Tara Gazdik and have shared our conversation below.

Tara, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

Self esteem and confidence are not traits that come naturally to me. I am a firm believer in “fake it ’til you make it” so anytime the idea of something intimidates me I tend to force myself to just do it anyway. There have definitely been times where I’ve crashed and burned in the process haha, but there have also been times where it worked out better than my wildest dreams.

Over the years I’ve approached self confidence as if it was a muscle. Only through practice and training will it grow.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Over the last couple years my content creation has had a few pivots, but I thrive when I’m sharing my authentic self (as cliche as that sounds).

I feel best when I’m being transparent about my insecurities, because it’s raw and honest and I know that I’m not alone in feeling that way. I know that what I’m going through is not unique, but it’s not always talked about so openly and by giving voice to it I’m healing myself, and hopefully, healing parts of other people I’m able to reach.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

1. Just do it scared. You are going to be your own biggest naysayer and it’s important to switch your mindset from “I don’t want to fail,” to “I won’t know if I don’t try.”

2. Don’t be afraid to ask for help or advice from people you respect or admire. I’ve been able to build a community of other female content creators by reaching out to them and I couldn’t imagine doing this without them now. I value their advice and input so much.

3. Don’t compare yourself to others. No two journeys are ever the same. Never let yourself downplay your own accomplishments.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?

The social media algorithms can break your spirit if you let them. Currently my views and reach have taken a hit and ity is definitely discouraging, but I constantly remind myself that I didn’t start this journey for the clout, I started it to be the person online that I wanted to see. Every time I start to doubt myself I take a deep breath and remind myself of that.
