Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tarrance Johnson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tarrance, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
That is a great question and I feel like I’m still somewhat finding my purpose. What is helping me figure it out is seeing how I react to certain situations or something in the media. I’m coming to the understanding that my purpose is to change lives. I’m not as fortunate but I know that there are people out there that are less fortunate than I am. If I could figure out a way to help everybody in the world, I would. But I’ve learned that it only starts with one person. If I could change the life of one person, I’m one step closer to changing the world for the good.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a creator. I live to create. I create to live. Telling stories whether that’s music, short videos or even pictures, brings me joy. I’m a videographer, content creator, Tiktoker and YouTuber and I hope to just grow. I hope to grow as a creator and as a man.
So far all I’ve been doing post-graduation is creating content, working on my brand and working on other projects. I hope to soon launch a production company and record label and to just promote hope.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Patience is number 1 and I’m still working on that today. When it comes to editing videos, it can take me 30 minutes or it can take me months and patience is what I’m still learning because it takes time for greatness. Self Confidence is key as well. I used to talk down on my work all the time but many friends had to tell me that being a creator is a skill itself that all people can’t do and they informed me that I do really well.
Some advice I could give is to basically get out of your head and just do it. A lot times we listen to our head more and not our hearts. Follow your heart and just be the best you.
Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?
The biggest challenge I’m facing is just lack of resources and money. I tend to create ideas that’ll need certain equipment or a certain amount of money and because I don’t have much, I feel discouraged a lot.
