Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to T’Asha Overton. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have T’Asha with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My mom and my grandmother. Those two have always spoke to me about work ethic, the dos and the don’ts. I remember when I first started working at my first job, my mom was a little annoyed because it was far from our house but one thing she and my grandmother did do was make sure I was there on time and if I wanted to call off my mom would ask “why are you calling off?” and I would come up with a reason why I did not want to go, but my mom was not going for it! Any time I made a commitment to do something, those two made sure that I saw it through and supported me through the process. They taught me the value of working and making my own money and they taught me to see things through even when it gets hard and I feel like giving up,
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
So I am a wax specialist but I specialize in brows! ProsperiTee Eyebrow Factory is my business name. I started doing brows in 2018-2019, this is when I first discovered tint and I would do it on myself, my bestfriend, my mom and other family members. Brows has always been my favorite part of my make up routine! I used to be obsessed with brow products I did not care if I did not have on any make up, my brows were ALWAYS going to be done. I started my brand out with brow products and I created a growth serum. I did that for a while but I knew my passion was to do brows, not sell products and that is when I decided to pursue it! The rest is history!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Consistency. Customer service. Discipline. I would encourage every person who is interested in starting a business, especially if you have to interact with people, to make sure that their customer service skills are in tact. It does not matter what is going on, if you have GREAT customer service skills, your customers will always come back, refer you, etc. Most importantly, if the business is something you are passionate about, keep going and never give up. The start of a business can be rough and sometimes discouraging because you have a vision in your head about how your business is going to look, but it does not start out that way! EVER! Keep your eye on the prize, and walk in your purpose.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I am always open to collaborating with others! I honestly love when business owners collab because I feel like it’s powerful to show other people that just because we may have similar businesses (or not) it doesn’t matter there is room for all of us! I would love to collab with other brow artist or wax specialist etc however that may look! or anyone in the beauty industry!
