We were lucky to catch up with Tassiana Laurre recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Tassiana, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Throughout middle school and high school, design had never been mentioned as a career option. I always thought I would pursue engineering. However, having been fond of drawing my whole life, I was disappointed to have to put the creative aspect of my personality to the side.
I remember visiting a Ross Lovegrove exhibition at the Centre Pompidou in 2016, and all of a sudden it clicked. I loved how visionary his work was, and how it used new technology and processes.
This led me to apply to Strate, and pursue my studies in design. As I discovered more about the industry, I became increasingly passionate about pursuing various projects across disciplines. Today, I view every project as a new challenge and an opportunity to push my thinking and create something new.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m Tassiana Laurre, a multidisciplinary designer and creative, working across residential and commercial interiors, furniture design, and art direction. My approach is deeply rooted in creating spaces and objects that evoke both emotion and functionality. Whether I’m designing a home, a hospitality venue, or a custom furniture piece, my focus is always on marrying aesthetic integrity with thoughtful utility.
Currently, I’m developing my own furniture line, which is planned to be launching this September. It’s been a long-held vision to bring my sensibilities into tangible, sculptural pieces that live beyond the walls I design. This collection blends clean lines with rich materials and beautiful details.
I’m excited to share more in the coming months and invite people to follow along as this next chapter unfolds.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
First, staying curious and open to learning. The creative and design industries are constantly evolving — new materials, technologies, cultural shifts, and ways of working – there’s always something new to absorb. Approaching each project and experience with curiosity has kept me adaptable and inspired.
Second, developing strong visualization skills through software. Learning tools like CAD, 3D modeling, and rendering software really helped me communicate my ideas clearly — both to clients and collaborators. More recently, I’ve been experimenting with AI as a creative aid. These tools have expanded how I explore and present concepts, allowing my ideas to feel more real and dimensional early on in the process.
Third, flexibility. Projects don’t always go as planned, and being able to think on your feet — creatively and logistically — is essential. Sometimes, the moments that feel like setbacks or detours actually lead to more distinctive and exciting outcomes.

We’ve all got limited resources, time, energy, focus etc – so if you had to choose between going all in on your strengths or working on areas where you aren’t as strong, what would you choose?
I believe it’s important to lean into your strengths — that’s where your unique value and creative voice really come through. For me, that means focusing on design direction, spatial storytelling, and conceptual development. Those are the areas where I feel most confident and energized.
That said, I also think it’s essential to stay curious and continue learning, especially to keep up with shifts in the industry. Even if something isn’t my core strength, having a working understanding helps me collaborate more effectively and make better decisions.
I also believe in the power of collaboration — hiring or partnering with experts in areas where I’m not as strong. That way, I can stay focused on what I do best, while building a team that brings depth and expertise across the board.
