Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tatiana Saborio. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Tatiana , thank you so much for joining us today. There are so many topics we could discuss, but perhaps one of the most relevant is empathy because it’s at the core of great leadership and so we’d love to hear about how you developed your empathy?
This is a super interesting question. I think that my ability to have empathy was nourished by the home enviornment i lived in and seeing my mother practice it daily as a psychiatric nurse. From a very young age I was brought up to view others through a lens of non-judgement. I feel that in my field empathy goes a long way to make the client feel safe and welcomed
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My name is Tatiana Saborio and I am a Licensed Esthetician and Wax Specialist in San Diego! Currently I’m focused on growing my small business and my brand, Nightshade Esthetics LLC. I provide full body waxing services with a specialization in brazilian waxing. I love connecting with clients and making them feel their best. I think that waxing and beauty services are a form of therapy and self care and I am so grateful to be apart of something that can improve someones mood or give them new found confidence. I want new potential clients to know that my business philosophy will always be to encourage people to wax for THEMSELVES and never anyone else and that Im here to be a safe and friendly space and provide a great wax!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I think that the three things that have been the most impactful on my journey to opening my own business was patience, my love and pursuit of continued education/research and lastly my empathy and true passion for what im doing. While I am still new to business and doing my best to pick up and learn new things everyday I would tell those just starting out to not compare yourself to anyone else in terms of what you are trying to succeed in. Im learning that good things take time and what we see online is not always the real truth. Don’t ever get in the habit of saying you know everything about your passion or field of work and always be open to other ideas and education. There is more than 1 way to do lots of things! I think if you truly want something you have to get used to enjoying the journey and be patient with yourself and your own process.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I am always looking out for other beauty professionals and service providers to work with especially in terms of business and marketing! I love to learn and pick up tips on what works for you as a business owner and how you better manage and automate your small beauty biz!
