Meet Tatiana Samano

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tatiana Samano a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Tatiana , looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

My strong work ethic is undoubtedly inherited from my father. Since I was a child, my dad has exemplified hard work, always striving to create something remarkable out of nothing. His philosophy of “the early bird gets the worm” has been ingrained in me from a young age. I would characterize him as a dedicated, compassionate, and innovative person, qualities that have greatly influenced me in all aspects of my life.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

In my role as a Cinematographer and Director, I specialize in transforming the written screenplay into a visual masterpiece, steering the artistic and creative direction of the film while leading the crew towards realizing that vision. For me, the most thrilling aspect of my work lies in collaborating with others to conceptualize and breathe life into an idea that was once merely words on a page.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Throughout my life, three fundamental qualities have remained steadfast: compassion, determination, and diligence. As I continue to grow and learn in my craft, I have found that perseverance is the key to skill development, particularly in the creative industry. One of my favorite quotes, attributed to Martin Luther King Jr., resonates deeply with me: “If you can’t fly, then run. If you can’t run, then walk. If you can’t walk, then crawl. But whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.” This philosophy serves as a guiding light in my journey, and I hope it can inspire others to persist in their endeavors, no matter the obstacles they may face.
