We recently connected with Tay Bleue Fonseca and have shared our conversation below.
Tay Bleue, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Finding my purpose has been a journey of trial and error, but each step played a vital role in guiding me toward what truly resonates with my soul. Over the past few years, I’ve experimented with different career paths, creative outlets, and self-exploration. At times, I felt uncertain or even lost, but those moments pushed me to dig deeper into who I am and what I want to contribute to the world.
It wasn’t until I started paying attention to what made me feel alive—whether it was creating art, helping others, or immersing myself in personal growth—that I began to see a pattern. I realized that my purpose is tied to helping others connect with their true selves, using outward expression like tattoo art or hair and makeup artistry as well as inward reflection through personal discovery.
The process taught me that purpose isn’t something that’s found all at once. It’s about constantly evolving, being willing to embrace the unknown, and trusting that every challenge is guiding you closer to the truth. Now, I see my role as helping others step into their authentic selves, just as I’ve been doing for myself—through creativity, self-expression, and inner work.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Creativity is at the heart of everything I do. I am an artist of many mediums – a painter, an illustrator, tattoo artist, hair and makeup artist…to name a few.
I find immense joy in being of service to others, and one of my greatest passions is helping people embrace their truest, most authentic selves through visual expression—whether through tattoos or hairstyles. It’s incredibly fulfilling to see my clients radiate happiness and confidence after adorning their skin with meaningful and intentional art or discovering how transformative the right haircut, style, or color can be.
As a self-taught hand-poke tattoo artist with a private studio in Boulder, Colorado, I’m honored to provide a serene, safe sanctuary for my clients. My studio is more than just a workspace—it’s a place where connections are built, stories are shared, and sacred, forever art is created. Tattoos are inherently intimate, and I take pride in ensuring every client feels comfortable and supported throughout the process. Whether we’re diving into deep conversations or enjoying meditative silence (as much as one can while being tattooed, haha), the experience is tailored to their needs.
I’ve been a hairstylist since 2016 and am deeply passionate about helping others feel confident, not just in their appearance but in their ability to maintain their look beyond our time together. I love working with natural textures, especially cutting curly hair, crafting feather razor cuts, and enhancing natural beauty through lived-in highlights, sun-kissed balayage, or bold, vivid color transformations. Sustainability is equally important to me—I only use eco-conscious, cruelty-free products that are kind to people, animals, and the planet.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The top 3 qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that have been more impactful on my journey so far are patience, perseverance, and authenticity.
Patience is a key element to remember throughout every stage of the journey. There will be moments of failure, but each one holds valuable lessons. The most important thing is to keep trying and not give up when challenges arise. I’ve learned that good things take time, and with consistent practice and persistence, our skills grow stronger and more refined. Being present each day and steadily working toward my goals hasn’t always been easy, but it has taught me to embrace acceptance and surrender to what life brings. Some things are beyond our control, and accepting this truth can help us adapt when the path shifts unexpectedly. In hindsight, I’ve come to see these pivots as being for my highest good, even if they didn’t feel that way at the time.
Perseverance has been a cornerstone of my journey. There have been moments of self-doubt when I felt like giving up, but pushing through those feelings has always led to profound growth and strength. Self-doubt is something many of us face—our minds, or egos, often use it to keep us in our comfort zones. But when we take risks and step into the unknown, that’s where the most meaningful growth happens. In those moments, we discover new skills and uncover aspects of ourselves we didn’t know existed, unlocking exponential potential for expansion.
Authenticity has also been transformative for me. Staying true to who we are is essential. Whenever I catch myself questioning if some of my creations will be received well by others, I now contemplate to myself, “well, who cares, though? If I like it, that’s what matters.” When we try to conform to societal norms or mold ourselves to fit expectations, we stray from our authentic selves. Living with authenticity and integrity allows us to step into who we are truly meant to be. It aligns us with the best path for our success and leads to genuine inner happiness.

How would you describe your ideal client?
My ideal client is someone who values self-discovery, strives to embrace their inner confidence, and seeks to express their authenticity through meaningful visual representation—whether through tattoos or hairstyles. They approach their lifestyle and personal expression with intention and purpose, making each choice a reflection of their true self.
