Meet Tay Robinson

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tay Robinson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tay below.

Tay, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I get my work ethic from the men in my family generations before me. My great-great grandfather was a farmer and fisherman in Louisiana and Mississippi, his son my great grandfather moved to LA and owned a string of jazz clubs as well as being the creator and co-owner of Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles. My grandfather was a high ranked staff sergeant in the Vietnam war.

So it’s honestly in my blood to do things with excellence and you can only achieve such things through hard work.

My father and step father too are some of the most hard working men I know as well.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a session drummer and producer I’ve worked with many award winning artist and musicians around the world. Right now I’m focusing on furthering my career in said field, but also now venturing off into newer territories.

I’m now starting a voice acting career as well as fronting my own jazz band.

Both are new but daunting tasks; hopefully by next interview I can come back with some successful confirmation.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Having a online networking skill after COVID happened is major and I would say for someone trying to be in any form of creative industry to practice the three P’s. Practice, Patience and Persistency.

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?
I recently made a career move to be out in Atlanta and Nashville to be apart of the budding rock and country scene and as well as starting my voice acting career. It’s been a fun and rewarding challenge, but I’d be lying if I said somedays I thought I bit off more than I can chew. I do better when under fire so we’ll see how this goes.
