We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Taylar Pulliam. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Taylar below.
Taylar , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
I draw my resilience from my mom, who is undoubtedly one of the strongest individuals I have ever met. Her journey has been nothing short of extraordinary, marked by challenges that would have overwhelmed many. She has faced adversity with grace and tenacity, and I deeply admire her for that. My mom is a significant source of inspiration in my life; her unwavering spirit contributes to the courageous, intelligent, and brilliant young woman I have become today.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am truly passionate about my work, and what brings me the greatest joy is presenting my clients with their stunning photographs. I specialize in capturing breathtaking moments that tell unique stories. Whether it’s a joyous wedding day, a serene family gathering, or an adventurous outdoor shoot, I strive to encapsulate the emotions and beauty of each experience, allowing my clients to relive those cherished memories every time they look at their pictures.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I’ve had the privilege of shadowing several talented photographers, each with their own unique style and approach. This experience has opened my eyes to different techniques and creative perspectives. Additionally, I’ve been fortunate to receive several insightful books on photography, gifted to me by friends and mentors who saw my passion and wanted to nurture my skills. These resources have truly enriched my understanding of the art.
Along my journey, I’ve also dedicated time to learn independently, experimenting with various settings and subjects to find my own voice.
To anyone stepping into the world of photography—or any creative field for that matter—I would emphasize the importance of perseverance. There will be challenging moments when progress seems slow, but it’s crucial not to lose heart. Stay committed to your passion, keep honing your craft, and remember that every setback is a stepping stone towards mastery.

If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?
I Would you embark on a grand adventure, traveling the globe to experience the vibrant cultures of far-off lands? Perhaps I would prioritize deepening connections with loved ones, setting aside time for heartfelt conversations and shared laughter that would create lasting memories.
Would you engage in a passion project, pouring your energy into a long-held dream—writing that novel you’ve always envisioned, or starting a small business centered around something you love? Maybe you’d take the opportunity to explore the great outdoors, hiking through breathtaking landscapes, watching sunsets paint the sky in hues of orange and pink, and marveling at nature’s beauty.
Alternatively, you might turn your focus inward, dedicating time to personal growth, learning new skills, or volunteering for causes close to your heart. Whatever path you choose, how would you ensure that each day counts, leaving an imprint on the world and those around you?
