Meet Taylor Budreau

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Taylor Budreau a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Taylor, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

From a young age, I’ve always been drawn to the social media world, knowing full well that it would come with its fair share of online trolls and judgment. I began creating YouTube videos in 8th grade, and what started as a hobby in high school eventually became a part-time pursuit after college. Through the years, I’ve learned that consistently putting myself out there and taking pride in my work has not only helped me grow as a creator but has also significantly boosted my confidence and self-esteem. Despite the challenges, the experience has been incredibly rewarding and transformative, teaching me the value of resilience and self-expression in a space that can sometimes feel unforgiving.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

My journey into the social media and influencer space started with a curiosity about the business side of things. While in college, I began exploring internships to gain more insight, and like many, I graduated in 2020 – right as the world shifted dramatically. I landed a digital marketing internship at an agency, but within a month, the wave of layoffs began, and the agency lost several clients, leaving me with little work to do. Despite that, I continued to focus on my own YouTube channel and TikTok, knowing I needed to secure something more stable after graduation.

Given the tough job market at the time, I pivoted to find a paid internship, and that’s when I landed in the influencer management space. This was a turning point for me, as it allowed me to establish my professional foundation while still nurturing my passion for content creation. I had the incredible opportunity to attend influencer events and meet some of my favorite YouTubers in person, which deepened my understanding of the industry from a business perspective. It was thrilling to be immersed in the influencer world on both sides – as a creator and as part of the management side – and it truly solidified my love for the space.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Resilience has been key, especially during challenging moments like the 2020 job market collapse and the uncertainty that came with it. There were many times when things didn’t go as planned, but staying persistent and not giving up on my goals made all the difference. It’s important to remember that setbacks are often just setups for future opportunities.

Adaptability played a huge role, particularly in the early stages of my career. The digital landscape is constantly changing, and being able to quickly pivot and adjust to new platforms or strategies was essential. Whether it was shifting focus from YouTube to TikTok or transitioning into influencer management, being open to change has allowed me to stay relevant and continue growing.

A growth mindset has been incredibly impactful in terms of both personal and professional development. From learning the business side of the influencer industry to growing my own content, embracing every challenge as an opportunity to learn and improve has been a game-changer. It’s important to be curious and seek out new knowledge, even when things feel uncertain.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?

I’ve come to realize that content creation is a full-time job in itself – it’s not just about posting videos or photos, but about constantly evolving, strategizing, and engaging with your audience. Finding the right balance between my professional responsibilities and my personal goals has been a challenge, but it’s also been incredibly rewarding. I’ve had to become more disciplined with my time, setting clear priorities and creating systems that allow me to manage both worlds effectively.

Through this experience, I’ve also become more passionate about helping others who are looking to get started in the content space. I’ve learned a lot about what works when building a social media profile, how to create engaging content, and the importance of consistency and authenticity. Now, I’m focused on guiding others who are navigating similar paths, sharing the tools and strategies that have helped me find success. Whether it’s coaching people on how to develop their own brand or providing tips on growing a social media following, I want to empower others to take their content to the next level while balancing it with other aspects of their lives.
