Meet Taylor Cotton

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Taylor Cotton. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Taylor , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

I would say I got my resilience from coming from a place of lack.During my pregnancy,I stopped working at one point and it was a difficult time for me but I was still pursuing graphic design and other things on the side.I wanted to make sure I was in a better position before having my daughter, so that was also where a lot of my resilience came from.It meant trying until I got it right and falling on my face a lot!

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I offer graphic design services for small businesses, startups and clients needing someone to create graphics because they simply don’t have the time or patience to do it themselves.I love creating because I can always make something different and break out of my comfort zone.I love the challenges, unpredictability and that it can be spontaneous!I love that I can also offer clients a live design session which is especially useful for clients needing a design but not knowing exactly what it is or having any visuals for reference.I would design live and the client would be a part of the creative process!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I would say knowing certain techniques and design strategies to create outstanding work, having basic education in the principles and elements of design and knowing how to market myself as a creative.I would say take courses and never stop learning new skills.Always find ways to better market yourself and to perfect your messaging as much as you can.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?

Sharpening my design skills and finding the design style I want to achieve!I have also found tremendous growth in how I market and network when looking for clients!I have performed much better in the aspect or serving people rather than selling.
