Meet Taylor Dupuis

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Taylor Dupuis a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Taylor , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I knew I wanted to be a performer from a very young age. My first taste of it came when I was 8, and I booked a role in the musical “Annie.” The rehearsals were rigorous, and it was a lot of work and I loved every minute of it. I just fell in love with the stage. There’s no handbook on how to become a successful creator, so from there I’ve always just followed my passion when it came to creating. Singing, and acting, and writing, and filmmaking are all avenues of creation that speak to my soul in a way nothing else in this world has. So I’ve always just followed that pull

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I have a few avenues of creativity. As far as music goes, I am one of the lead singers and writers for a rock band called Roanoke. We’ve been releasing music and touring for about 10 years now. We are sort of like a modern day Fleetwood Mac if you will.

I also have an indie pop solo project called Lovetta. Both projects are currently release music on the label Kill Rock Stars.

Both Lovetta and Roanoke are very special to me. There’s so many different sides to us as humans and I get to explore multiple parts of me through the music.

I am also an actor and filmmaker. In between auditions and acting on set, I also write and produce my own screenplays. I currently have two projects in post production. A short film called The Stars in New Mexico, and a pilot called Sex Lives.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Perseverance, passion, and collaboration

Don’t give up. There’s a whole lot of no’s in this world, but you only need one yes to change your world

There’s lots of ups and downs doing what we do. And it’s easy to burn out. So make sure you find ways to keep the passion for what you do Alive

And lastly find your collaborators. The only thing better than creating by yourself is creating with others. Find people that inspire you and push you

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
Burnout. I’ve spent the last 10 years hustling every spare second I had, and I’m feeling the repercussions.

I’m currently trying to find the right balance between hard work and rest. Sometimes I nail it, sometimes I don’t, but it’s an area I’m constantly growing in.
