Meet Taylor Gorby

We recently connected with Taylor Gorby and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylor , you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?
My generosity comes from a desire to help that I’ve had ever since I was little. I helped rescue animals in my neighborhood, helped my grandmother cook as much as possible and even got to help volunteer locally for years with Special Riders Program and go through the Special Olympics with them. That transitioned going through the new stages of parenting and finding so many products that weren’t safe for kids or nursing mother, so in turn that became a strong driving force for me to formulate blends and remedies that would help make parenting and life in general, easier to manage. Not only less risks and side effects involved but the ability to keep my prices affordable while still providing quality natural products. I’m told I could make more and should charge more, and while yes I could, I charge enough to cover costs and keep my business running. I created my business to help people, in as many ways as I’m capable of. I have experienced negative reactions from pharmaceuticals, I have felt no relief even though I was told it was the best option. I went to research and my business was then born. I believe knowledge is power and I’ll continue to learn more, share more and enhance the knowledge that the base of my business is.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
The Scrunchy Mama Life is a natural healing business to help make parenting and life a little more easier to manage. That translates to quality natural products and services. Healing products, magnesium salves, essential oil rollers, elderberry raw honey, and birth support just to list a few major points. There is also an ability to obtain a hydroponic tower garden to grow your own food and herbs at home, indoors even. I very much brand and run my business in a way to help people, with as much as possible, while providing key knowledge for understanding how it all works.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Parenting played a huge role in the inspiration of my business as a whole. One of the best skills that has really pushed me above and beyond is my drive to research everything, every little thing. Knowledge truly is power and nothing is too small to know. Something that makes my business what it does, is the foundation that it is built off of which is to help people. I believe that my natural instinct to be unique and ‘not follow suit’, helps pave my path for a smoother journey. My advice for anyone starting any journey, be yourself. Your brand, your business, is you and the best thing you can do is be authentic as possible. My next piece of advice is that Coca-Cola only sold 25 bottles in its first year, now look at it. Keep pushing forward, your time is coming!

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
Outside of my children being my inspiration for starting my business, the one who has helped pushed me, supported me and provided additional information for me to look into would be my brother. He has been my sounding board, the one who builds me up when I’m beating myself down. He reminds me of the power that I have, the knowledge that is within. I’m truly thankful for everything he’s been there for.
