Meet Taylor Hall

We recently connected with Taylor Hall and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylor, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

Confidence comes from knowledge, indisputable fact, something that can prove to your self and others if necessary. When I talk about proving yourself to another person, I am not talking about convincing unsafe people of your worth. What I am talking about is having well-guided, well intended action behind your claims.

Personally, I don’t find comfort in technicalities, I don’t find comfort in the theory of something, I find comfort in facts. When you stay in alignment with who you are and what you can do, then you don’t have to feel guilty or inadequate about yourself because you didn’t over promise and underdeliver. Confidence is kind of a form of honesty that you have with yourself and others.

Lack of greed is also something that helps me with both confidence and self esteem. When you’re not greedy, you become less entitled. You don’t think you deserve things just because you want them. Lack of greed breed humility because you’re not entitled, you’re more patient and more willing to work because you’re not under this idea that it should come to you so easily. We have villainized healthy traits just because it doesn’t enable our impatience and unwillingness to work hard. People have lost touch with the values that built the very world we live in, which is why it can be so easily taken.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I like to call myself a professional girls girl because I believe in empowerment, lifting each other up and building a community where we promote honesty, love, gratitude and grace.

I do this through selling preloved designer handbags. If you join BAGPHIC’s live selling on Whatnot & Tiktok Live, you’ll see our cute little community of people who just want to be accepted, loved and included. What I have learned about the preloved luxury industry is that value retention is a huge thing which I think speaks to me as a person and what I find to be important. I like the practice of people still valuing things and appreciate uniqueness and craftsmanship over new and trendy. Plus these bags are made with high quality material so they’re built to last long enough for a next generation to enjoy. Each piece has a story, comes with character that is awarded through experience, resilience, and being reliable until the person’s next stage of life.

I am half Japanese, so preservation of goods, heritage, lineage, and legacy are all very important things to me, my family and my culture. My mom used to give me her old purses, I still have some of them to this day that I intend to give to my daughter. There is something so magical about being passed down something or be given a piece of someone’s history. That kind of character has to be worn into the item, you can’t mimic it, you can’t fake it because of how it ages. This is authenticity at its core. The real raw truth of experience is that something may not always look pristine, it may come with some flaw but it was resilient enough to survive and offer value even in it’s second, third, or fourth life.

In terms if my professional goals are to be an asset to the team and bring the team from one point to another in a positive direction. While there are obstacles in the way sometimes, I want to prove to myself that I have the will to push through and/or work around the obstacles I face. One thing I want to be able to say to myself is that I do what it takes or I do whatever I can think of before saying it’s over.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Accountability, Integrity, and Strong will. All of those things are the foundation of a successful human being. Success isn’t just measured by money, it’s measured based on how much you can accomplish or do with limitations. Success is measured on what you can overcome, how you make people feel in times of struggle, how you ideate solutions, and what you’re willing to give and do. The successful people in my life that I honor are people who are willing to go without, who get down in the dirt with you, who struggle with you, who fight alongside you even if they’ve beat this level before.

The grace and humility (that come with accountability and integrity) are what keep the blood flowing. When people get caught up on things that don’t matter or can’t move forward in life because they’re waiting for an apology or fixating on something that only satiates an egotistical hunger, they will be stuck even if they get lucky, because it takes a true person of character to not only overcome, but maintain the next phase. It takes an extraordinary person to leave things better than they found them.

I strive to be the person who can leave things better than they found them.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

The Courage to be Disliked is an excellent book. But this book will poke at parts of you that you’ve been protecting from the truth, so i encourage you to read it with an open mind. This book will help you understand what self-inflicted limitations you are placing long your own path. I recommend this for people who are ready to face parts of themselves that they’ve been avoiding.

The book can be unforgiving and it will confront you in ways that you never thought about. But if you prioritize growth, inner peace, and taking control over your life, this book is going to do a lot for you. But be ready because some lessons are very hard to take in if you don’t give it a chance.

You have to get past the hard stuff to get to the wisdom.
