Meet Taylor Quinn

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Taylor Quinn. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Taylor with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

My work ethic stems from overcoming challenges early in life. In the first grade, I was diagnosed with dyslexia. Even before the diagnosis, I sensed I was different—I struggled with reading, writing, math, and other basics, which became apparent to my parents, too. After testing confirmed my learning disability, my parents took several supportive steps. I changed schools, repeated the first grade, and began an intensive four-year regimen of tutoring and therapy. I spent countless hours on extra homework and attended tutoring sessions twice a week.

This experience taught me the importance of hard work and perseverance. I realized that while learning might take me longer than others, I could reach my goals through determination and persistence. Dyslexia instilled in me a strong work ethic that drives me even today as an entrepreneur. It taught me to push through challenges, no matter how difficult, and to keep working until I fully understand or achieve what I set out to do.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am the CEO of Filmspire, where our mission is to create films that inspire action. We aim to not only move audiences emotionally but to encourage them to take meaningful steps in response to what they see. We work with a range of clients, including for-profits, nonprofits, higher education, and government agencies.

What makes Filmspire unique is that we are not just a video production company; we are also a video marketing agency. We don’t simply create award-winning films—we also back them with comprehensive video marketing strategies. I founded this company with the belief that there’s nothing worse than creating a video that never reaches its audience. That’s why we work to ensure our videos are both seen and impactful.

We take pride in creating authentic, human-centered stories for both for-profit and nonprofit organizations. Our videos often take on a documentary-style feel, which helps bring authenticity to the narratives. My background in digital marketing and SEO has influenced this approach, allowing us to offer something distinct in the industry: a unique blend of video production and strategic marketing. We focus on aligning each video with our clients’ marketing or sales goals, providing not just a video but a comprehensive content package that includes shorter versions, social media reels, custom thumbnails, caption files, and SEO-optimized uploads.

One of our newest services is video podcasting. Podcasting provides a fantastic medium for long-form storytelling, which can then be repurposed into shorter, social media-friendly content. We offer a full-service podcasting solution with a studio where clients can record their sessions, which we then film, edit, and transform into shorter clips.

While we’re industry-agnostic and work with a variety of sectors—finance, technology, healthcare, environmental, education, food and beverage, and more—we seek clients who share our passion for impactful storytelling. For instance, in 2023, we had the privilege of producing a documentary for the Virginia Attorney General’s office to raise awareness about human trafficking, which won two Telly awards. More recently, we completed a documentary for a nonprofit focused on homeschooling, giving a platform to underrepresented BIPOC voices in that community.

At the heart of every project we take on, our goal remains the same: to inspire and call people to action.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Three qualities that have been instrumental in my journey are professionalism, active listening, and networking.

In the creative services industry, professionalism can be a significant differentiator. Creatives often face a stereotype of being disorganized or unprofessional, so presenting myself in a polished, organized manner has helped clients feel they can trust me to deliver. Professionalism goes beyond how I dress or speak; it’s about ensuring my online presence reflects the high standards of my work. I’ve found that being perceived as a “professional creative” rather than just a “creative professional” has been beneficial.

Listening is another critical skill. Truly listening to clients or prospects is essential to building trust and understanding their needs. Asking insightful questions and focusing on their responses fosters empathy and helps me grasp what they are trying to achieve. People appreciate feeling heard, and this builds a foundation of trust.

Lastly, networking has been incredibly valuable. Although I am more introverted, I push myself to attend networking events and connect with others. Networking has opened doors to new leads, projects, and clients—many of which came from simply showing up and being present. I encourage others to develop these skills: conduct yourself professionally, listen more than you speak, and make meaningful connections both within and outside of your industry.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

As an entrepreneur, I sometimes feel overwhelmed by the weight of responsibilities. When that happens, a few key practices have been incredibly helpful for me. My faith plays a central role in my life, so I often turn to prayer when I’m feeling stressed. It helps me remember that I’m not alone and that my life is part of a larger plan, giving me a sense of peace and reassurance.

Alongside prayer, I’ve recently incorporated meditation into my routine. Practicing deep breathing and using meditation apps has been effective in calming my body’s stress response. I aim to do this daily, especially at the start of my workday. Meditation has helped me manage both mental and physical stress, allowing me to show up as my best self—both at work and, importantly, at home for my wife and kids.

For anyone feeling overwhelmed, I recommend finding a grounding practice, whether it’s faith-based or a mindfulness approach, to center yourself and ease the day’s challenges.
