Meet Taylor Seay

We were lucky to catch up with Taylor Seay recently and have shared our conversation below.

Taylor, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
My work ethic has been influenced by a combination of factors. Firstly, growing up in tough situations made me learn the importance of hard work and dedication. Secondly, I’ve had mentors and role models who demonstrated exceptional work ethics, which inspired me to follow their example. Lastly, I’ve developed a strong sense of personal responsibility and a drive to achieve my goals, which fuels my motivation and determination in every endeavor.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My husband and I own our own coffee business called:Duck River Coffee.I feel like my next steps in the business world is just to simply get our brand out there and just continue to work hard. The achievements don’t come happen over night so we will continue just make moves and blossom into the company i know we can be.On the other side of my life I also am a social media influencer and I just go on there and be myself because as a person who stutters that is very important to me at the end of the day.Lastly I am an Author,I am still small and branding myself in this newly built space but its going well and so far I have 2 books on amazon one being a survival guide,How to live a stutter and the second is a kids story,The Stuttering Elijah. Those are my two first published books and Im working on a few more as we speak.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I think Resilience: Being able to bounce back from setbacks, adapt to changes, and stay persistent in the face of challenges is crucial in both personal and professional growth.

Effective Communication: The ability to articulate ideas clearly, actively listen, and understand others’ perspectives

Time Management: Skillfully managing time and prioritizing tasks it allows for a balanced approach to work and personal life.

My advice for people is Stay Curious and Learn Continuously: Always remain curious about the world around you and be open to learning new things. Read books, take courses, seek out mentors, and explore different perspectives to expand your knowledge and skills.

Embrace Failure and Keep Going: Understand that failure is a natural part of any journey. Instead of getting discouraged, see failures as opportunities to learn and grow. Use them as stepping stones to refine your approach and move forward with renewed determination.

Build a Supportive Network: Surround yourself with positive, like-minded individuals who support your goals and aspirations. Networking and building connections with others in your field can provide valuable insights, guidance, and encouragement along the way.

Remember, success is a journey, not a destination. Embrace the process, stay persistent, and believe in your abilities, and you’ll be well on your way to achieving your dreams.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
Take Deep Breaths: Practice deep breathing exercises to calm the mind and reduce stress.

Break Tasks into Smaller Steps: Divide overwhelming tasks into smaller, manageable ones to make progress more achievable.

Prioritize and Organize: Create a to-do list and prioritize tasks based on urgency and importance.

Take Short Breaks: Step away from the situation briefly to clear your mind and gain perspective.

Seek Support: Talk to a friend, family member, or colleague about how you’re feeling, or consider professional support if needed.

Practice Mindfulness: Engage in mindfulness techniques or meditation to stay present and focused.

Learn to Say No: Don’t be afraid to say no to additional commitments if you’re already feeling overwhelmed.

Remember, it’s okay to ask for help and take care of your well-being. Implementing these strategies can help you regain control and manage feelings of overwhelm effectively.
